Is it more than most wanted to give up? Sure but its the deadline and we picked up a front of the rotation starter with control into next year. We got the best player in the trade. Cant be completely upset at management for trying to maximize our window these next few years..

Also, need to show Vlad and Bo that they are willing to pay the price to win. We want to keep these guys around long term, moves like this only help.

Same here. If you are making the berrios trade you cant stop there. There are still holes in the lineup

Its worth noting that because we are developing players in such abundance and with the need to protect players on the 40-man roster or risk losing them for nothing on the rule-5 that we are going to likely motivated to ship out surplus prospects who are going to need protection in the next year or two. In other words, don't get upset over trading prospects.

So Shaprio drafted him at 5th overall if that is the scouting report that is some bad drafting

It’s not uncommon for Toronto to be on a players no trade list given the border. The same with how a lot of big market teams end up on NTC’s so that a player has a better chance of getting something from the team in exchange for waiving - not to mention some players just might not want those big markets and media attention.

I know, I was just thinking Donaldson knows that Toronto and Canada are awesome Even though it ended kinda sour, he still had his absolute best year here and lots of good memories. You would think you wouldn't reject a place that you have fond memories, for the most part, of.

First, I think I may have been a bit too harsh with borderline. Second, Martin was ranked second before the draft among the experts so if Martin misses, it just wasn't the Jays management.

i know a lot of people saw martin as the future cf/leafoff. but the minute we signed springer he became a chip. hes blocked in the outfield. hes blocked in the infield. he was capital to be used
