Donaldson still has $50M owed over 2 years and a buyout after this season and also has a NTC, which I would expect has Toronto on it. I’d imagine an acquiring team could get him for nearly free if they take all the money or would have to pay a decent price to get Minnesota to eat some of it or take a bad contract back.

Just curious, why do you think his NTC has Toronto on it?

Jansen's defense has taken a bit of a step back this year, but it was 15th last year and 8th the year before. Reese in a SSS has been great and has a defensive rep, but I fail to see a gigantic difference going forward.
Jansen
(2020)) 342.1IP -4DRS 0.2DWAR 6CS 20SB (23.1%)
(2021) 338.1IP 1DRS 0.5DWAR 3CS 18SB (14%)

"Fingers" McGuire
(2020)) 342.IP 1DRS 0.3DWAR 4CS 4SB (50%)
(2021) 337.IP 2DRS 0.5DWAR 10CS 7SB (41.2%)

McGuire is equal to him statistically in every defensive category except throwing where he absolutely demolishes him.

Or make them pay for the whole thing like the Yankees managed to do

The Yankees gave up a 50 FV and a 45 FV prospect for two months of Rizzo. I should hope the Cubs paid the salary because that is a much worse overpay than what the Jays gave up here.

It’s not uncommon for Toronto to be on a players no trade list given the border. The same with how a lot of big market teams end up on NTC’s so that a player has a better chance of getting something from the team in exchange for waiving - not to mention some players just might not want those big markets and media attention.

Very steep.. especially because they’re chasing a bit for just the second WC spot. With other teams loading up so much, should have just stood pat.

That is what I thought. And I didn't seem to see any other top prospects going out in those trades. Is Martin the beat prospect traded so far this TDL?

Alot of bad fans in here if you think we aren't making playoffs after coming back home tonight on a hot streak with the addition of berrios for maybe prospects. This is why none of u will be gm. Sit back watch an enjoy what happens with this team. Springer back hitting leadoff, best clubhouse and offense with a lethal rotation. Do the Yankees scare u? Offense looks good but starting 5 pitchers aren't comparable

The Berrios deal is moreso about ensuring that we're in a better spot this time around next season.

We could very well lead the division next year
