So happy that Drouin is being rewarded for his play lately.

He’s really been playing perfect 200 foot hockey for a month or two now. Playing with pace through the neutral zone to create off the rush and get in on the forecheck. Hounding pucks and making good second and third efforts. Backchecking hard and making big defensive plays. Setting up plays, taking shots, and making the right decision on pretty much every play.

And the most impressive thing to me might be how much he’s adapted his game to fit Bednar’s style since the beginning of the season. I bet if you go back and watch his first month or so, it would look entirely different. He’s playing with so much more pace now and playing a puck hounding style he never did before.

Every play he makes, is the optimal play at that moment. On every shift too. You don’t see that too often. And he's really improved the PP too. I was surprised they didn't have him on PP1 to start the season. I thought he looked great there in pre-season. Just a high level thinker and distributor.

I haven't seen a passer this good since Forsberg either. It's truly elite. The speed at which he makes his passes, and the accuracy is incredibly impressive. He manages to find his line mates tape almost every time, even with miniscule passing lanes under pressure. I'm just waiting for him to start dominating shifts like he did when I watched Halifax.

Doesn't look like it's a fluke either. I think he might have found a home here, but he only hurdle is their cap situation, and his asking price. You know he'll want to come back though. This is probably by far the most fun he's had playing hockey in his pro career.

Sign him to 8 years now.
Probably only way we can beat other offers(we can't offer as much salary per season). Offer very long term and a bit lower salary per season.

Heck, as long as he is attached to MacKs hip, id do it..

6-7 year guaranteed contract. Not sure anyone else would offer the same.

It's a gamble yes.

His hockey IQ is really, really high. And his passing is superb.

At least CMac got 1 right. Colton's a 50/50, RyJo is a big fat miss.

He's the 5th player from 1st round of the 2013 draft to have played for the Avs (MacKinnon, Zadorov, Burakovsky, Nichushkin, Drouin). Safe to say, that draft is a gift that keeps on giving for the Avs.

I don't care what you guys say...last night against VEG solidified my thought on wanting to give him a shot at 2C. The way he plays defensively right now I find he already plays quite a bit like a C anyway. There is not much risk trying it out for a few games.

I haven’t followed the Avs very closely this season but early on, people were ready to chase Drouin out of town. Now? Say what you will about Avs fans but if you as a player earn the opportunity, our fans will support you. I don’t know much about Drouin as a player except that he’s very talented, has high IQ and has turned his play around after enduring a lot of hardships in his career. Sounds like another Nuke story. Good on him.

You know, the points were not coming early on for JD, but I thought it was pretty obvious that he was hustling and trying in stark comparison to say Johansen or even Mikko at times. But it took him awhile to get comfortable and truly "get" Bednar's system. He was also being yanked around to every which line early on as the Bednar Blender was in full effect.

I've been told his wrists can be problematic, but I've loved what I've seen of him this season.

I mean, his play for less than 1M?
