Ok.... Do you want my post history? I praise Joe time and time again.

This is a bad move.
Basically you didn't like the trade then. Why don't you just say that? There is nothing wrong or weird with the contract.

Val was terrible before coming to CO as well. Now he's maybe the most important guy we can sign. Seems like some people just want to whine and/or be miserable.

Think it’s about 400k overpaid to his fair value right now. Sakic could’ve got him for cheaper on a 1-2 yr contract, but they obviously believe in him. If he becomes an average starter it becomes a great deal, if he flops he’s about 1.4 mil overpaid.

The fair value when you add in the 3rd year is right about 3.4m. This is right in line with the pay raise you assume by going past RFA years. Joe doesn't make this deal hoping he's just staying for 1 or 2 years, if he wasn't willing to pay this much he would not have made the trade.

Joe is following the plan he saw the Avs implement his first year as advisor to the team post career.

Trade for a promising RFA 1B type that has lost their starters job and wants to be the #1. Then re-sign them to a three year 'prove it' bridge deal.

Varly - 3 x $2.833M
Grubauer - 3 x $3.333M
Georgiev - 3 x $3.4M

Comes with a bit of risk if they can't be a true #1, but if they do, they'll have them on a steal of a contract for a few years. Which is perfect for the position the Avs are in now.

That third year makes it really easy to dump his contact if it doesn't work out or it ends up being the steal if it does. Sakic works his magic again.
Very smart!

Frankie could have got that also and maybe more. All he had to do is go UFA. He chose to stay here. He loves Denver and the Avs. He is happy to be the backup as long as he stays here hence the discount.
Who knows though. This could be opportunity for him too.

Btw, I think Georgievs playoff stats might have played a role too. He has played two games and he has save percentage of 93,5%.

Okay pointless sample BUT at least we know there's potential to perform in playoffs and he was able to his head cool.

It's definitely a small positive.

Wasn’t that just when he came in when Sheshterkin got pulled?

Expected closer to $3 million but the term is no surprise. Overall it is a mid type of deal so I don't love or hate it, just going to wait and see what happens and will give the benefit of the doubt. I do love that Sakic does not want to pay goalies the 6x6 type of deal because that is a recipe for disaster.

With the rising cap vs those seasons it makes sense.

I watched few Rangers games when Georgiev started, seen real good games from him, and real bad ones. He definitely has potential

Behind the Avs system, all he needs to do is be able to make a few saves when called upon and be able to see out of both eyes in the playoffs and he'll probably be fine. I'm not expecting prime Roy but I'm not expecting Peter Budaj either. All we need is an average starter and we should be good to go.

said it when we got him I didn't think it was the right direction but if he signed for 3 or less it was a good move , well it's not 3 or less and meanwhile Frankie is solid in every situation and we have a young stud in Annunen who is going to be jammed up in the system until he is 26 now . The available moneu is shrinking we are very quickly approaching the point where the extra 3/4's here and the extra 1/4's there are going to cost us a UFA we really would like to have back next year . Sakic failed on this deal in my eyes , he could and can be a great goalie but we need the great team in front of him to win more than we need him . Ask Tampa and the Rangers about that .

The only thing that might cost us a UFA we want will be Mack’s new contract and needing to re-sign Toews.
Anything else is hyperbol.

Mack doesn't have to be signed this summer bud , maybe check the lineup eh ? Theres going to be 6 million dropping off when EJ's deal runs out so Mack is covered next year and has nothing to do with this years cap . Holy F@#$ talk about Hyperbole .

Annunen is 22. Francouz has a 2 year deal. So 24 actually, not 26. And thats only actually relevant if Annunen continues to progress. There is currently no reason to think hes a starter being held back at this point.

As for the money costing us a UFA. I think that entirely depends on which UFAs youre talking about and which ones Joe already knows he isnt bringing back due to salary demands.

The Avs were 100% gonna have to say goodbye to some players this offseason. IT was impossible to keep the same roster.

You just described the significant mistake.... Almost 5% of potentially dead cap at a time when all our guys are getting raises and we are already struggling to keep guys.
So…. Paying Kuemper 6million dollars help this in what way?

The only thing that is going to impact the cap is future considerations. Hence me mentioning Mack’s extension and potentially re-signing Toews. We are not losing a UFA we want due to signing Georgiev for 3.4 aav.
Your post and the premise of it was nonsense.
