ouch.

I just dont think Matthews re-signs.

and Dubas KNOWS he has to be traded if he doesnt sign before July 1.

Christ he can't even spell Auston's name right.

I’ve seen your posts, it doesn’t matter who or what you’re talking about. It’s all negative in regards to the leafs.
If you've seen my posts you'd know I've been a Leafs fan since I was a kid.

Its negative because this era of Leafs hockey has been an embarrassing joke. There's nothing worth being positive about besides 3-4 players (Rielly, Woll, Schenn, Knies).

Let me guess, you want Matthews traded to the Kings so you can see him win a cup with your “real” favourite team.

Congrats, you’re the first person ever going on my ignore list.

The answer is quite simple - Keep Matthews,

Trade Marner for Karlsson +

The Sharks can keep Karlsson. I don't expect him to put up 100 points again, and he can't defend for shit.

I don't want Yoko near the Leafs dressing room either.

If the fans want him to stay he will stay, the second we trade him he would win a cup.

I would do 15M x 8 if that’s what he wants. He would set the market and that would be the going rate for a star player.

15 x 8 is an awful deal for a guy who struggles in the playoffs + has a history of wrist injuries which has limited his best asset (his shot)

The Matthews situation is really tricky, nowhere near as black and white as you're trying to paint it

I can't see how Matthews deserves $15Mx8. Even a million dollar raise on his current salary is questionable at this point (especially if his wrist isn't 100%).

Trade... trade everyone and stock up on draft picks.

We would be foolish to let go of a Rocket winner and a 40 goal scorer. We need to try and sign them both if we can, the tricky part is that NMC. Marner is a soft playmaker, not very important compared to the goal scorers. We could get a hard nosed guy that can get Matthews the puck, no biggie. May not look as fancy though, there may be a hit to make a play lol

A hit?

Byfield is ass, another take I was right about (the Kings should've drafted Stu).

That said, no chance in hell LA trades any of those 3 (or Danault or Kempe) for a proven loser like Matthews. If the Kings want his $13m ass they can sign him next July, I'm sure LA as a city is his top choice where he can move in with Bieber full time

Might work for who? What team in their right mind is trading away 8 years of a top pick for 1 year of Matthews, and then having to pay his insanely high cap hit if he wants to continue gracing them with his presence?
If a team was on the verge of a Cup and needed a final piece (Vegas - Eichel)... maybe. Like I said, Anaheim is NOT that team.

There's photos on Twitter at the moment of the handshake line where you can see Matthews wrist in a brace. Likely comes out soon hes been dealing with an injury.

Which helps explain a bit of his performance, but then there's also the issue of investing heavily in a guy with this much wear and tear

Edit: here's one

Ya. I mean isn't this expected completely?

Every team every year.

Gonna call on Owen Nolan for the response.

You really can't read can you? I've said multiple times I don't want him on the Kings.

Even Auston Matthews should realize that a massive raise, huge AAV and long term ask would have been predicated on continuing his 2021, 2022 seasons and then hitting the next gear in the playoffs or at least back stopped by massive popularity in Toronto.

But he took a noticeable dip in the regular season, was unhealthy and just seems like the Florida series resulted in some sudden and unexpected reputational damage. And it's not like the Leafs did anything wrong for this all to happen either.

You're probably lying though, it's not complicated.
What kind of schmuck would I have to be to constantly post on a teams forum that I allegedly hate? (they've unfortunately been my favorite team my whole life, but go off).

If I were just trolling as you seem to imply, why would my posts be exclusive to the Leafs & Kings, the two teams I like? Why wouldn't I be out on the forums of other "large" fanbase teams like the Habs or Oilers?

This victim mentality some of you have is almost as pathetic as that crow eating thread you started after the 1st round, which sure aged nicely hey.

Blank cheque, he’s the franchise player we were dying for. Hopefully he gives us a decent deal.

Last 3 "Do or Die Games" (his words) 0-0-0. Not the franchise player I'm dying for.

I'd like him to stay as well, but not at any cost. If he is not willing to sign a reasonably friendly deal.......see ya.

The GM blew it with JT, which begat too much for AM which begat too much for MM.... and that is the primary reason this team has not been successful.

I would suggest perhaps you are more of a fan of the player than the team.

Same here. I like him, but not at league max.

If you asked me this question last September, I'd say you're freaking nuts to want to trade him but he was hot garbage in the Fla series, I hope it's because he was playing hurt, I sure hope he wasn't just mailing it in either. He was barely a 3rd line contributor in the 2nd round.
