It would be nice for Matthews to go on one of those goal scoring streaks. Even though he already has 3 goals so far this season he hasn't consecutive games when scoring a goal, although he did not play in the second game against Edmonton on Friday and he scored a goal against them on Wednesday.

Last season Matthews already had 5 goals scored after 3 games played, so that's the type of thing we all want to see him do again.

This appears to be a fresh hand injury. Must have been something in the first Oilers game if it wasn't the series of Montreal and Ottawa cross checks to the back.
 
I doubt he's injured... I have a feeling he was benched and suspended 1 game by the team for his comments and they kept it hush hush and told everyone he's battling a minor pain.

I don't think that's true because of this precedent. Remember during the 2014-15 Season when Brendan Shanahan announced that Nazem Kadri was suspended for 2 games because he had a history of incidents, missing team meetings and etc.

So you think the organization is ballsy enough to come down that hard on its franchise player (for nothing) but not ballsy enough to announce it in public?

At least it wasn't serious enough for Matthews to only miss one game compared to the other injuries he's had. However those previous injuries he had were concussions which is why he only played 62 games in 2017-18 and 68 games in 2018-19.

October 2018 injury was a shoulder.

I like him much better at the left circle on the PP. It allows him to make his loop when the Leafs go low-to-high on the left side and he comes up as the trailer with the defense collapsed giving him enough time to get his shot off. It also allows Marner to QB the powerplay on his forehand where he has a greater radius of passing options.

I like how they will cross and switch sides, keeps the PK guessing and opens up new options with the movement. As good as our PP was last year it looked really static and predictable, this year it looks a lot more fluid which serves us well.
