Good pick, he might have been the best defenseman in last year's MLD.

I think so too.

Thanks.

I always been a fan of Bouwmeester as a player. Other than physicality, he's got everything you'd want in a defensive defenseman. Good size, great skating and good passing. He Logged huge minutes on bad Florida teams and still put up solid point totals. Once he got traded to Calgary his point totals dipped as he had some tough competition on the blue line. Still he led the team in icetime every year. (Not to say he was the number 1 guy) In St. Louis he saw his minutes decrease due to lack of PP time. 9 times Bouwmeester played 82 games.

Bouwmeester has been a staple on Team Canada best on best tournaments. He was a pretty surprising cut from the 2010 Olympic team. But the competition was insane that year. (Pronger, Keith, Neidermayer, Weber, Doughty, Boyle, Seabrook.) Despite that, he has been selected to the 2004 World Cup, 2006 Olympics, 2014 Olympics, and the 2016 World Cup. Two Word Cups and an Olympic Gold in those tournaments.

Bouwmeester's effectiveness over such a span is impressive at this point. We're taking 12 years of making Team Canada as a D man. Even when his offense slumped his defensive reputation was still that highly thought of. The crops of defenseman available at each of these tournaments were impressive and Bouwmeester was thought to be amongst the best each time.

I don't meant to criticize your pick as he's good value here. But Jbouw to me is one of the most disappointing d-men ever.

In terms of physical gifts he had everything needed to be a perennial Norris finalist. Yet he'll probably retire and be forgotten about soon enough.

I have to agree. This isn't a criticism of the pick, but I always had the impression with Bouwmeester that he was basically a minute eater who had no impact on the game whatsoever. He's just... there for half the game, without purpose or effect, be it positive or negative

I'm aware this isn't really true, but it's the impression he left me throughout his career.

Amarillo will make probably a controversial coach pick, but in a league where everyone is a megatalent, we want a likable, loyal bench boss who can win games but who can also just throw the pucks out there and let the boys take care of it.

From Ottawa ... Brian Kilrea

Just like Kessel, it doesn't matter what you think Bouwmeester should have accomplished. All that matters is what actually happened. I agree that he should have done more, but he didn't.

I know, not sure in what sense I should take your reply.I won't artificially lower Bouwmeester's value just because he wasted more potential than most players in that range.

Amarillo has an offensive sub (Richards), a two-way sub (Broten), a big, heavy, defensive defenseman (Abel) so we'll wrap up the team with an offensive defenseman, a PP wizard, offensive catalyst, a deceptively tough dude and my favorite active player.

From Boston, Mass ... Keith Yandle

What potential did he waste? He's been a top pairing d man for over a decade. His offense tailing off and not ever being a physical player are really his only weaknesses.

Again, I'm not criticizing the pick.As for his "wasted potential", in his youth Bouwmeester was seen as a guy who would compete for Norris Trophies.Maybe he just didn't have that potential at all and people had unrealistic expectations for him, or maybe he did have this potential and failed to actualize it.In any case it doesn't matter.

In the matter of who needs to be dropped and replaced after the end of round 25, Kilrea would be the front runner for me at this point.

I wanted to pick someone to give "Badger Bob" a hand, and I think these two would coach well together.

With our final pick of the 2017 ATD draft, the Pittsburgh Bankers select Assistant Coach Pete Muldoon

Re. 4 hour clock: It works if there are multiple people overnight keeping track of what's going on.

The Borg Collective will select their final spare, a young dynamic center who we predict will be taken much higher next year. Much like his partner in Dallas has risen in the ATD, so shall this player. While still very young in his career, he has already accomplished a great deal. The Borg Collective proudly select a player we feel could step into our lineup and replace one of our All time great players and not miss a beat. We select Tyler Seguin .
