What are you going to do? Dominated and lost. All though another finisher would be nice instead of Ritchie. He's big though and thats good enough for some to make up for a bad hockey player.
Marner is pretty bad and Matthews ran the show. 10.9 for nothing

how many points does he have in the post season? How much is he getting paid?

how many Stanley cups does he have? Zero. Exact same as Marner. Y’all get so caught up in this winning a round bs narrative. Who cares, losing in the first round, second round, conference finals is the same thing. The only thing that matters is winning the cup.

Idk, when it does? They hit 3 posts in one sequence today. No question they have to finish, but they are dominating play and possession. There isn’t an adjustment that they can make to finish if you understand what I’m trying to say? They just kind of have to either do it or hopefully get some bounces to go their way.
Hoping for bounces to get their way is the same thing that every teams is hoping. Top players get it done.

LOL exactly the response I thought I would get. No one in Colorado is losing their shit over MacKinnon’s slow start. But leaf it to leaf land to be bent out of shape
Your idea that to compare 1 player struggling to another player struggling somehow makes it ok is laughable

Anybody complain about this game should give it a rest for tonight. They played their hearts out but are snakebit thus far this season. How can we play every game against the reincarnation of Vezina. I understand that we have to bury some of these but the way the puck is bouncing around and just drifting wide or the knob of the goalie's stick is so frustrating. Matthews will be sharper next game even though he had a very good game. He makes a huge difference to how the team looks.

Too many people in this thread have no idea who Sheshterkin is and are in for a lot of years of "oh man we have no finish" when the Leafs play the Rangers.

Great goalies have a lot of pucks "shot right at them" - it's not a coincidence. Some of the reads he made, and his positioning in response were elite and resulted in pucks to the body.
I’ve followed him and seen him through since his ahl play. I agree he isn’t a Georgiev who just had a legendary game against us. He is cut from a different cloth and will be there next hank and one of the very few 60+ game starters

buuuuuuut………. the leafs do have the best goal scorer in the league, one of the best playmakers, a supposed top 20 Center, and another top 30 winger. Those type of players, especially Matthews and Marner don’t come often. 1 goal which is scored by a depth option isn’t good enough either.

Guys played hard, just no luck. I'm sure some would be just as upset if we won like the Rangers did, being outshot 2 to 1. I wonder if they are pissed over there?

I think people know he’s a good goalie I think everyone is just perplexed at the fact that a goalie plays lights out every time against us.

Sometimes there's just a fun game of hockey where the Leafs do well but lose anyway. No sense bitching about an OT loss in game 4 after a well played game
Never fun to lose lol.
Also, I still hate 3-3 O.T laaaaame. But atleast it didn't go to poopy shootouts. Hate those with a passion

That is a ridiculously short-sighted argument. Progress is what gets you to the finals. Not getting your ass slapped in the first round not being able to win shit.

Man, is Adam Fox overrated or what. That guy has nothing on Cale Makar.
I didn’t really notice fox that game apart from a few turnover and a neat play or two.
One the other hand, I still remember a 1 minutes shift from two years ago where Makar held the puck for 50 seconds of it and just walked around our guys. They aren’t comparable imo and fox was lucky Makar got injured last year

fox is an elite #1D, borderline franchise

Makar is a franchise, borderline generational one

I'll just admit it.

This team has a finishing problem.

The playoffs confirm it. They deserve no benefit of the doubt.
Shh the marner apologists and all will point towards are amazing xGF and call you stupid.

Yes the leafs played great. Yes the finishing is a concern. The two can co-exist.

Winning the Cup is the goal and not winning a round, but last I check, I really have not seen a team who lost 5 first rounds in a row with the same core and just suddenly win the Cup the following year.
Anything can happen in the playoffs but you need to score and quite frankly the Leafs for some strange reasons just can’t score when it matters the last 5 playoffs.

Overall happy with the way the leafs played. I felt they controlled the game. My biggest issue right now is Ritchie and how it looks like he’s just floating around there.
