We did absolutely everything and only scored 1 greasy goal.

I think the struggles early in the season to finish tell you more about this team than the "did absolutely everything". We've seen this before in the playoffs.

Good teams find a way to get it done. This isn't a try league. They clearly have an issue finishing.

Very fun game. Still coming off that high right now. 10/10 pleased.

However please take notes off Panarin. Played like ass all game and was invisible but when he finally gets a chance he puts it right in a goal scorers spot (raised short blocker side). Our shot selection has not been good for a good duration now. Luckily we are not known for being held off the score sheet for too long. They won't lose a game like this next time.

I feel like it was a bit of both. Shesterkin made some ten bell saves, but we also shot right at him a lot of times.

He saw every shot. Look at Leaf power play shots - NEVER a screen, just long shots right at him with a clear line of sight. Still no front-of-the-net presence, all gutless.

Idk, when it does? They hit 3 posts in one sequence today. No question they have to finish, but they are dominating play and possession. There isn’t an adjustment that they can make to finish if you understand what I’m trying to say? They just kind of have to either do it or hopefully get some bounces to go their way.

Remember when David Ritich did it to us last year and then came here and looked bad. Way too often goalies play really good against us.

I wonder why and I don’t think it’s just running into a hot goalie. It has to be our players, player shot selection, system or something else.

Is he a solid player? Absolutely. Love that he's winning draws and playing well defensively, but I need way more from a guy who makes 11 million.

Too many people in this thread have no idea who Sheshterkin is and are in for a lot of years of "oh man we have no finish" when the Leafs play the Rangers.

Great goalies have a lot of pucks "shot right at them" - it's not a coincidence. Some of the reads he made, and his positioning in response were elite and resulted in pucks to the body.

Well taking a look at the OT, we could’ve scored 3-4 times. We hit 3 posts. We also had a few tips like Simmonds and bunting. I do agree that many shots were seen and many were also shot into his chest.

Shit happens. Our best players were our best players. We got goalie'd by Shesterkin. Play that way, you're winning way more than you're losing. Amazing what having Matthews did to that top line tonight. Best performance of the season. Nylander has been incredible so far. Great to see.
