Good news that Dorion is trying to go longer term. Shows me he realizes Zub is core.
Thank god. Fans adore him, he's got to stay. Has there been another player that fans have taken kindly to this quickly? The Zub chant is already a staple and he's only been here for one season *with fans*.

When I watch the game the other day at RDS. The guys said the talk are really advanced for a extension. Dorion push hard for long term but his agent really want another short contract. I predict 3 for 4 m

Zub is our number 1 priority this off-season.

A lot of people will find that talk unusual with guys like Norris, Stutzle, Joseph etc.

But he is instrumental in maintaining a top 4 on this team going into our playoff and contention window. I'd absolutely love a 4x4 contract as worst case scenario. Don't know why Zub would want another short term contract at the age of 26. He's in his prime now(perhaps not peak but a legit top 4 nothing to scoff at)

Unless they want to do 3-4 years then another last retirement contract at 30/31? I unno what's the idea behind that.

Pageau. I couldn't believe the number of Quebec plates in the parking lot of the Sens facility during Pageau's first development camp every day of camp. Even EK didn't have that although there were quite a few people for his camp as well. And right out of the gate they had their Pageau song, Zub still needs his own song.

The longer the better. Chabot and Zub is a dope pairing, but having someone like him on the 2nd pairing to mentor Sanderson is vital. I hope the minute July roles around, we announce the signing asap

Zub will go where he wants … “The 50” here will blame Dorion as usual totally ignorant to the reality of the situation.

So you are saying he is already gone? Won't sign here?

If so, better trade him, get assets and then really get moving on 2 new top 4 RD.

That is what, "The 50" would do.

Sweatred has direct contact with Zub and has already confirmed with him and his agent so please don't question him.

No … if he wants to stay here I’m sure he will sign an extension this summer …

I think you forgot a million or two? He's their best RD right now.
I've been curious as to why Zub's contracts so far have been short term. I wonder if it was Zub that wanted that, or the team? Hopefully he was not just biding his time until he got the opportunity to sign a nice, lucrative contract that the Senators decide they can't afford.

That Oleksiak deal seemed like a pretty good model for us contract wise. If we want term, its hard to believe that it will be much lower than that.

Dorion is only proactive when it's time to re-sign goaltenders

Expect last minute deals for Norris, Zub and Connor Brown. I want to be pleasantly surprised wrong but we can expect at least 1 file to blow up in our face (like Tkachuk last off-season)

I have no idea what or who you guys are talking about.

Well his first deal had to be a one year deal. The second one took him to UFA. I suspect he doesn't want to stick around or he knows going to UFA maximizes his income.

It might just be the Russian thing but when you see the videos of the guys in the room after a win giving out the helmet and shades, he's not into it. There's a good chance he'll move on next year.

But if he does, you try and move him for a replacement. His cap hit is really good for next season so a cap strapped team might be willing to trade a good D on a longer term deal with a higher cap hit.

Assen na yo!

EK's entourage was small due to the size of the pond! :)

95% of the things we worry about never happen. I'm confident Zub will re-sign here somewhere around 5 yrs & $5 mil. I'm also confident Norris, Formenton & Joseph also re-sign, the others I care less about. The other thing that is important this off season is getting rid of a couple of albatross contracts like White, Zaitsev, Murray & MDZ to a lesser extent. How they do this or whether they do it is another matter.

If Zub doesn't want to play here this team and its management are even more clown shoes than we all thought (which is saying something).
