It truly is funny watching Phaneuf look so bad. There will be more of that. He's not the only Leaf looking bad, but it's just so good seeing Phaneuf so bad. He's awful.

You just said he's a "role player", and is not played in the "wrong role". You were proven wrong.

Dupuis just had his first 20 goal season. He's 34. Callahan has three 20+ goal seasons, is 27, and would have had a fourth if this season were greater than 48 games.

Dupuis benefits from playing with an elite, well structured hockey team. He wouldn't be putting these numbers up with Winnipeg or Boston.

Of course he's a role player! He's 5th in TOI/PG amongst Penguins forwards. For reference, Carl Hagelin is 5th in TOI/PG for the Rangers. Both are by the definition, role players.

Dupuis is part of the elite structured system. He's proven he's produced with crap linemates this year too.

Why are we comparing only goal totals?

Dupuis last yr scored 7 more pts than Callahan and Crosby only played 22 games.

Really? So 59-54 = 7? Your math is as bad as your player comparisons. And, let's not forget that Mr. Dupuis played in 6 more games than Callahan did that year. Dupuis .719 points per game in '11-12, Callahan .710 ppg. Yup, clearly LEAGUES better than Callahan. And, if you're going to bring up TOI, don't forget to add in time that the Captain is on the ice shorthanded and in nearly every situation defensively because his coach is CONSTANTLY looking for him in every situation. He said so.

Ah. And how many games did Callahan play with Crosby and Malkin?

Dupuis is much more talented offensively, is faster, smarter and brings just as many 'intangibles' as Callahan does. But he does it while dominating possession while on the ice, Callahan can't do that.

"Much" more talented. I see. In a 12 year career he's scored more points than Callahan's 54 once. And he's "smarter"? WTF? LOL. Okay. I'll bet if you asked any GM in the league, which player would you rather have on your team for the next 3 years, Callahan or Dupuis, and 29/30 would pick Callahan.

Of course I'm a fan! I just don't look through this team through blue and red tinted goggles like I did previous years.

Very satisfying indeed.

I'd love to see one of our guys return the favor for Sauer. It would be great if it could happen at MSG and have our crowd roar with delight the way they did that night in Toronto.

Which team is more likely to win a game - the Isles or Leafs? Also, is Reimer even aware of where the puck is?

I stand corrected, no clue where I got 7 pts from.

Callahan averaged a staggering 3:42 PP TOI/PG last year
Dupuis averaged 0:23 PP TOI/PG last year

Callahan averaged 1:48 SH TOI/PG last year
Dupuis averaged 2:16 SH TOI/PG last year

Callahan was on for 18 PPGA last year with Henrik Lundqvist in net.
Dupuis was on for 14 PPGA last year with Marc-Andre Freury and Brent Johnson in net.

Who is the more effective PKer? Callahan because he blocks shots? He's a warrior? lol

Who is put in a better opportunity to put points? Callahan who was 2nd amongst NYR forwards in PP TOI/PG on an abysmal, low percentage powerplay? Or Dupuis who was 14th amongst Penguins forwards in PP TOI/PG? How about Callahan's most linemates who were Brandon Dubinsky and Brad Richards compared to Dupuis' Staal and Sullivan?

Ah. And how many games did Callahan play with Crosby and Malkin?

Not sure how this is relevant to Dupuis who played very minimal minutes with those 2.

GMs can be very dumb businessmen. Look at Jay Feaster and the Ryan O'Reilly fiasco. Or giving up 3 2nd rounders for a broken down, rental Ryane Clowe.

I'm not the only Ranger fan who thinks the two are very comparable....

Dupuis was 7th in the NHL in ESP/60 last year in a shutdown role when Crosby only played 22 games. He had no consistent linemates that year, but usually played with Staal, Cooke, and Sullivan who weren't close to his level of production. He was also one of the leagues premier defensive forwards.

Dupuis > Callahan at even strength ANIEC.

Dupuis is a millionaire's Hagelin.

Yeah, even though I tried to stay objective at the time, it was still a hit that deserved payback. Maybe I'll send McIlrath a clip..har har.

I just never liked Phaneuf, always a big goof with his monstrous hits while sucking hugely at his actual job of defending. This is who Toronto chose as Captain? Unreal.

Gonna be a short playoffs for the Leafs and Fish. I actually thought that Toronto could pull off the upset before the series started. None of the two teams came into the playoffs on a hot streak though.

I'm sure the Leafs will come out better next game, but I'm also sure that the Bruins left their lazy ways of the last month behind too.
I think the Bruins-Leafs series is going to get very physical.

Kershaw, I understand you HATE certain players, but is there a need for you to put them down in every thread? Especially when they're good players and fan favorites? Are you trying to validate your opinion again? Do you need to put down Rangers players you hate that everyone else likes in order to prove to everyone what a genius contrarian you are?
