One thing's for sure, nobody is talking about Hemsky anymore. ONE assist, NO goals and a -6 through 13 games. He's not even playing with Spezza most of the time I believe as well.

I think we can take that as a small victory for the Sens camp in terms of their wheeling and dealing.

Murray only offered him 3 mil a year. At 3 mil a year, I'd be happy if he were here. Glad we didnt offer more tho.

At this point, he isn't worth $3 million. He's getting decent amounts of ice-time and still can't produce. Given that our current centers aren't as offensively gifted as Spezza and Seguin are, I doubt he'd do any better here.

Plus, we already have Michalek at $4M that isn't doing much, we really didn't need another underachieving, overpaid winger on the roster. He'd probably just take away Stone's spot and mess up the chemistry.

Hemsky has always been soft. No surprise he's struggling playing for a team that competitors take seriously.

I agree with this. I think the Sens pool is better overall. But they do have one player which is hands down better than any one of our prospects. That's Galchenyuk. I also like Sherbak, Sekac, Beaulieu and De La Rose. But like you said, I wouldn't take most of them over our prospects.

Ok but thought we were talking ONLY about prospects... Of course Galchenyuk is very good as he was a lottery pick (top-3 pick). However, he has already played 2 full seasons in the NHL, it's his 3rd year. He's their Zibanejad, but has been developing better lately.

But ya the rest of their prospects, I don't see any that we don't have our own at least equal or better. Both pools are decent IMO, with the edge to the Sens

I really have to produce a production table for all prospects of both teams, that'd be fun to compare... If someone wants to start the work :)

Ya I noticed that lol. and it's not surprising... We really had to move one of the 2 IMO

Myers is looking much better this season.

And the grey on these Sabres 3rds... yuck. Looks like an NHL 2000 glitch.

Detroit keeps rolling

I think we're good enough to make the playoffs but our division might have something to say about it

Just saw the league standings, and noticed that we are 13 places ahead of Jason Spezza's mighty Dallas Stars.

Yes, it's a small sample size, but maybe a well balanced forward crop is better than 3 offensive dynamos and a bunch of scrubs.

Maybe the Stars gm is not as smart as we all thought he was.

The Seguin trade was a smart move i give you that.

He lucked out on Spezza though being that Spezza practically controlled where he went and there really were not many teams looking for a center that Spezza was willing to go to.

His major **** ups though are sticking with the same defense and the signing of Lindback.

I dunno....way too early in the year to get cocky. The standings are probably going to be completely different by Jan.

I more or less agree with the last part but way too early to say anything like the first part.
I think an important factor though is the gap in skill between the "dynamos" and the rest of the team. It wasn't ideal in Ottawa because we had one of the most creative skilled player on the planet playing with a team of relatively inexperienced low skill players(for the most part).
So you need players at similar level to play with Dynamo like Alfie, heatley, hemsky. An then a gradual decline throughout the lineup.
Couple super stars with a team of ahlers you get players watching and waiting instead of taking it on themselves. And sometimes frustrated dynamos.

You don't see Abuse of Officials too often at the NHL level, but it happened last night in Buffalo when Tyler Ennis whacked a linesman in frustration. He'll be sitting for a while.

I can't imagine people are having a lot of fun in Buffalo right now

Panthers finally put up more than 2 goals. Problem is that they can't keep it our of their own net.

Johnny Hockey with 3 more points tonight, and these aren't phantom secondary assists we're talking about.

I think it'll be a two horse race between Gaudreau and Forseberg for the Calder this year.

Jakub Voracek is volcano hot this season. 22 points in 14 games(with the 14th game still going). Those are some elite numbers.

Spezza a minus 3 in another losing effort for Dallas. Wonder if their fanbase is starting to understand why some of us wanted him gone.
