I don't think Chicago is actually only the third best team in that division though. I think they cruised in the regular season and they also rested Toews and Kane at the end of the year. Even with all that they only finished five points out of first. Plus, the Avalanche are overrated. Colorado is young and talented, but as a team they really performed over their heads this year. I expect whoever comes out of COL-MIN to have their lunch money taken by the Blackhawks pretty easily.

I agree. There are some good teams in the West, but I think the legit contenders are the Blackhawks, Ducks and Sharks. I'd be surprised if it weren't one of those teams to come out of the West.

IMO Colorado is overrated, plus with the injuries they have now with the loss of Barrie, if Chicago were to lose to them... ouch.

I'm also extremely jealous of Chicago for having Toews/Kane. What a duo to have. Two of the reasons that they are one of my favorite teams in the West.

Colorado is right on the verge, and they have the firepower to hang with the Hawks. But I don't think their blueline will be able to compete. Varlamov and Crawford is pretty close to a wash.

Definitely would pick the Hawks in round 2. Avs should make the SCF in the next 3-5 years though.

The West is so tough that it's hard to say that anyone over there should make the finals over a set time period.

To be fair, not even Philly could be as pathetic defensively as St. Louis was in that period

The Flyers certainly tried at the tail end of the 2nd period. Dumb decision by Stralman when he has to know the refs are going to give Philly a chance to get back in it.

Maybe it's not so much the killer instinct as it is this team repeatedly making dumb decisions when they are in a position to totally demoralize the Flyers and take the game over completely. A good example would be Voracek's goal in Game 2. THREE Rangers (including Hank) with a chance to stop him and he finds a way to put it home. That can't happen. We've seen the Flyers when they get frazzled; total brainfart mode. Just don't give them momentum.

Someone said it, but I don't think Colorado has the defense to stop the Blackhawks (especially without Barrie). Sharks could beat the Blackhawks, that's if they don't choke their current series against the Kings.

I think Varlamov can steal a series against them, especially with their offensive firepower.

Would take Chicago over the Avs, but not San Jose.

Varlamov might steal a game, but Chicago is going to trample Colorado if they even manage to finish off Minnesota. They've been chasing the puck against a bad possession team like the Wild. It'll be extremely tough sailing for them to avoid getting blown out by an elite one like the Blackhawks.

Minnesota has been one of the best home teams in the NHL this season. The Avs dropping two there is hardly an indication of anything.

I don't think the Avs are in the same realm as Chicago when it comes to playoff hockey. The Avs are young and exciting and I've been pulling for them but I believe they will get bullied by the Hawks. I have no faith in SJ either. That LA has life in this series just indicates to me that SJ has the same old problems as ever.

The Wild have outshot them in four out of five games including two of the three in Colorado. The Avalanche owe their series lead to Brygalov and some terrible officiating in game 5.

Watching Dan Boyle's response to the reporter last night, yeah, frittering away another series lead is definitely front and centre in his cranium

I never thought the Blues had what it takes.

Seabrook's dirty hit removing Backes from the equation aside, I am so happy to see the Blackhawks do what I figured they would.
