Around the NHL: PTO Season Becomes Waiver Season

I get them wanting Hall to play with bedard. Flip him at deadline with retention.
This makes sense, either at the deadline or next off-season. A $3m retained Hall is a good piece for a contender and Hall riding shotgun with Bedard is fine until then.

I've posted about being worried about paying Pesce 7 mil plus when he's 36-37. I also posted that it depends on the trade cost, and that KA should look at every/all options in case there's a better deal out there. If push came to shove and a Pesce deal was the best, then make the trade, and deal with the cap problems down the road. I never said that if a Pesce contract is 7-8 years at 7 mil plus "don't do it".

If he actually plays hard and well. If he mails it in like he did here and assists in poisoning the culture like he did here............Chicago ain't gonna like it much
Bruins fans thought he was among the best players in the playoffs, as brief as they were. He might be one of those guys who can really turn it up in the post-season...which would be ironic, considering how few times he's had a chance to show it.

Hall gone and Reilly out for farm help, Boston pretty quickly clears some cap. It's what good teams do. Clearly they aren't done, but it gives them some wiggle room to not have to panic.

Hall forcing his way to Boston, taking a discount, only to be traded after a first round exit. Enjoying it a little

It's almost like it's ridiculous to worry about a player being overpaid by 2 million dollars 6 years from now because teams are always looking to add salary. Not to mention we have 0 idea what the roster will look like that far ahead and the predictions are never close.

If a player can help us now and 4 years from now until we can develop his replacement, just f***ing do it. You can find some desperate team who will take him on for nothing when the time comes.
I’ve said before it’s not dumping salary that’s hard it’s dumping players you need who make too much…

Or dumping OEL. That’s pretty hard as well.

But the entire comment is disingenuous because no one wants to dump pesce for being overpaid by 2 mil. They’d want to dump pesce because he was overpaid by 2 mil and then aged out of the next 6 mil of his contract with 4 years remaining on it. And you don’t just give away 4 yrs at 8 mil because like I said, oel is gonna be on the books for a long ass time.

The Sabres brand has been damaged so badly that Dahlin finished 8th in Norris voting. Anyone that voted for him less than 3rd has no clue what they are doing.
Meh.. just goes to show how much of an impact of the team making the playoffs has on these type of awards

I just want to reiterate…someone voted for Pasta as most valuable player…for a team that was deemed to have the best goalie, best coach and best defensive forward in this same award show

Does this mean it's 8x9m now?
I think not, he can show Adams his metrics and his importance to the team and the future of the team. I remember football player Kevin De Bruyne doing something similar before signing a new contract.
