I think not, he can show Adams his metrics and his importance to the team and the future of the team. I remember football player Kevin De Bruyne doing something similar before signing a new contract.
8x$9m is still the most important player on the team...

I wonder if the penalties sunk him in voting. The numbers were really bad, didn't he lead the league? And in game context there were so many deflating, stupid ones. It's the one thing in his game that needs to be seriously cleaned up, but I have no doubt he will.

I'm sure his agent, parents, and girlfriend agree. He'll get more, it's just conversation.
I don't know how they vote. But the fact is that if you look at the metrics of several well-known statistical sites, then Dahlin this season played better in defense than Fox, Makar and of course EK 65. He was also better than Makar in attack. He, Makar and Doughty played the most time on average per game. He is also a more physical player than Makar and especially Fox. I won't even talk about the injury. Therefore, it is strange that he did not at least get into the top 5, although he could well have been in the top 3, given all these arguments and factors.

Right, which is why I pointed out the one glaring flaw in his game that the none of the guys you mentioned have that may have made a difference in his perception around the league.

His penalty differential percentile was...2. Compared to Makar 96, Karlsson 86, Doughty 74, Fox 61. That's the most stark outlier of any stat of any player in that group.

What does it mean? Taking penalties too often? Just not sure if this should be considered as the main criterion.

Correct. Not the main criterion, but something. I understand different sources show different things and I only have access to The Athletic's cards, but here they are in order of voting. I think Dahlin is a transcendent talent who still has room to grow, which can be hard to remember because he's so good already. Morrissey over him is a joke however.

I’m pretty sure sports “journalists” vote for the awards, so you’ve already given it a lot more thought than most of them did.
