I'm thrilled with the trade from a Sabres POV. Much rather have Newhook than two of Brindley/Bonk/Stramel/Nelson in division. But I do hate the Habs and want their rebuild to flame out. This division has been too good for too long without them starting to pipe up now.

What am I missing with the Kevin Hayes deal? Seems awfully low return for a 50 point player at 3.5 million for 3 years. I look at guys like Girgs and Okposo who signed for 2,5 million and will never get 50 points.

You're missing that Hayes isn't that good PLUS clashed big-time with Totorella. Philly wanted him gone.

Hayes isnt very good, somebody had to put up a few points there. He's not a top 6 player.
