I really hate when ntc issues go public. The dude worked that into his contract, you agreed. Don’t pressure him by making the news public, don’t let it leak on either side. Complete horseshit move. You can inquire, if he says no, that’s it. God forbid a dude likes a city and wants stability.

Maybe Blues fans won’t care, maybe the Blues aren’t responsible here, but it just always feels like a sneaky way of trying to force a dude out.
I agree. I think too many guys have them, but if you give one out you need to respect the player's ability to invoke it.

If the Blues leaked it, doesn't seem totally out of character after it seems Armstrong didn't necessarily act in good faith with Berglund's in the O'Reilly trade.

Hate to see Iafallo likely be part of the Dubois deal and going to Peg. Would of fit in nice here and home town ties of course, always a player that has impressed me whenever the Sabres played the Kings.

What’s the story on that one? Didn’t even know Berglund had a nmc- wild that he’d waive it and then be miserable in the new city.

From what I can tell, there are 2 factions of Blues fans right now:

1.) Thank you, Torey. Hopefully this kills us getting Hayes
2.) Absolutely apoplectic at Krug, who sucks and wouldn't get claimed if waived.....and doesn't defend at an NHL level.......and is worthless.

Ya, it just creates such a toxic environment for both the player and team. If a dude has kids, has a working wife- moving a family can suck, don’t do that to your employee. Don’t do that to your franchise- if the dude insists on sticking around you’ve made the situation unmanageable, really bad idea as a general rule. If the blues were dumb enough to do that I wish them many failures. Would seem ridiculous, but I feel like teams have done similarly before.

From what I remember, he had a NMC where he had to submit a list of teams he wouldn't accept a trade to, and Buffalo was on it. But his agent forgot, or didn't realize he had to, renew it every year. So Armstrong traded him with the argument that since it wasn't submitted FOR THAT YEAR Berglund had basically waived his rights.

Shitty thing to do, honestly.

Hall to Chicago. How many teams has he been on the roster of when they select 1st overall?

6 million off the books just like that...it can be done!

(man, f*** boston, this 15 year run of excellence needs to be over)
It's almost like it's ridiculous to worry about a player being overpaid by 2 million dollars 6 years from now because teams are always looking to add salary. Not to mention we have 0 idea what the roster will look like that far ahead and the predictions are never close.

If a player can help us now and 4 years from now until we can develop his replacement, just f***ing do it. You can find some desperate team who will take him on for nothing when the time comes.

The flip side is maybe Buffalo shouldn't be so scared of approaching the cap.
Yes but what does that have to do with Boston/Chicago? Boston is an older team with yearly contracts and a narrowing window at this point

I believe he’s referring to people saying we shouldn’t make moves because the player might not be worth it later on.

It can be done...but this scenario isn't really applicable to the 7th and 8th contract years for a 36-year old season of the D in question.

Hall scored 51 points last year and was pretty good. There's a reason Chicago didn't really receive anything in return for "taking a cap dump." Boston just said we can't afford this player and Chicago said we're fine with paying him the remainder of his contract for what he brings. Hall for 2 years at $6m isn't brutal for what he offers.

It would be sick if Boston would not be gifted a bailout every time they need it for pennies on the dollar

I get Blackhawks going the Arizona route and taking advantage but make ‘em actually pay.
I get them wanting Hall to play with bedard. Flip him at deadline with retention.

I wonder if Chicago flips Hall for something now. We know first-hand what an unmotivated Hall looks like.....and I can't imagine he's going to have any motivation whatsoever playing in Chicago.
Depends if he wants to play with Bedard.
