I would like to see how Jack Hughes's stats would look if he was playing 3rd line center come year 3 behind Zibanejad and Strome. Linemates would be Kravtsov (so obviously 300 points) and Gauthier.

Good on him (f*** the Devils), he's a really talented player and when his physical abilities are catching up to his skills look out.

Strome should've been long gone without Hughes, because he's not a center. But he isn't, and he's here still because he has chemistry with Panarin. That's the only thing holding him here.
Sure, but being able to play with good players isn’t nothing.

Strome is still the guy we got for Ryan Spooner. Remember that. That’s why I’m all for selling him.

I will continue to bang on the drum that 3 on 3 is not real hockey and we shouldn't react to what happens during it.

Another player Jovo was right about since way before the draft when I said he would be much better than Kakko and I get attacked! Send letters to Dolan to tell him to fire Drury and hire Jovo. I have been right about everything! Trouba! Was I the only person in the world who said Lafreniere wasn’t that impressive in junior and just randomly had points like Strome? Just wait for Kravtsov 70pt season

Kakko has scored some nice goals too. Hughes didn't look like anything special at 5 on 5 in this game, I watched the whole game. he only had 31 points with first line minutes and lots of PP time last season. he's gonna be a very good player but let's not go crazy because he scored a sick goal in a skills competition.

I’ll take the bait. EVERYONE said that Hughes was better. He was the consensus first overall, regardless of any rationalization that may have happened around here because we got the consolation prize.

Yeah, I don't really understand the grieving over him when we never had a chance to draft him. While the two weren't worlds apart, I don't think any team - including the Rangers, would have drafted Kakko ahead of him. It was pretty much all just media hype to generate buzz. Can we just enjoy the fact that we have a guy who looks like he's going to a two-way beast and bitch about the actual numerous botched draft picks over the last decade instead?

Oh wait, that's already happening in other threads

The Battle for Wright is gonna be a nail biter this season.

What a waste if he goes to Buffalo

The Coyotes G.M. Is on a mission and it appears with the blessing of the owner. This might even out shame Buffalo’s Connor McDavid tank.
I would certainly be open to arguments being put forth to just run a true 1st round lottery where all teams have an equal chance. There might be something to the idea that we shouldn’t punish teams for success and reward teams for failure.

No, I was one of like 5 guys on this board who said Hughes was better. As soon as we got that #2 ball everyone started praising Kakko and bashing Hughes. Go back and read the threads, Kakko was even winning polls on main boards after that Worlds. People were even saying they’d rather pick 2 than 1!

Which is funny, because had Edmonton not won that lotto, Eichel would of been a Coyote.

19 points is 59 career North American hockey games is stepping up immediately?
He’s too good for the AHL so he doesn’t try. He’s almost too good for the NHL regular season, in the playoffs is where he usually chooses to post the greatest numbers of all time. But in those 20 games: His first NHL game he had a beautiful falling down shot that got absolutely robbed which would’ve been the GWG with seconds to spare, he had 2 phantom assists taken away on the scoresheet even though he clearly assisted them, he got his first NHL goal which was gorgeous caused by one of his very aggressive forechecks called back by a controversial challenge. All this while on the 4th line with Rooney & Howden. He looked like the same player we drafted in those 20 games. He was flashy, fast, forechecked & backchecked hard, played with confidence, did his signature between the legs deke and went out there like an absolute alpha. Couldn’t be further from what Kakko & Laf did, they don’t even look like the same player. Go back and read the GDT’s last year everyone was blown away with how excellent he looked. People were all saying he looked better than Laf or Kakko. Go back and watch his shift by shift video from his first NHL game it’s on YouTube, he was great. Go watch video of him in the KHL since you obvs haven’t. He is a stud

The Coyotes have a chance to be historically bad. They are still trying to move Kessel and they will listen on Keller. It’s not far from an AHL roster now and anything that isn’t nailed down (e.g. Chychrun) is available.

If the Tempe Arena Hail Mary doesn’t work, they will be in Houston next year.

Yeah the Yotes are horrendous. The Sabres at least have a bunch of young hungry kids. The Yotes are a bunch of over the hill castoffs. They lost 8-2 to freaking Columbus. They are far worse than Buffalo.
