Are you speculating or hearing things?
Hearing things. The Tempe Arena plan is a long shot. 10 figure plus deal that comes with all kinds of hurdles including environmental, aviation (the site is under the major flight path) and opposition from other municipalities that already have arenas. And even if it passes every hurdle, it won’t be available for 3-4 years.

The league would be perfectly willing to do another new franchise introduction. See Vegas, Seattle.

Oh I hear ya, I was just curious if you knew something. I've been reading about the arena hurdles & the funniest thing is there hasn't been a peep where they'll play next year if Glendale isn't bluffing.

The Tempe thing always felt like a longshot, especially after the financials were reported & the team is looking for about $200M in tax credits, etc. The airport issue is just another fly in the ointment.

But the biggest problem is the potential money losses. If the numbers I've been reading are accurate, Meruelo doesn't strike me as the type to be willing to stomach losing another $100M in the interim .

Popcorn ready for sure.

The Coyotes have a chance to be historically bad. They are still trying to move Kessel and they will listen on Keller. It’s not far from an AHL roster now and anything that isn’t nailed down (e.g. Chychrun) is available.

If the Tempe Arena Hail Mary doesn’t work, they will be in Houston next year.
And when they get to the point in the season where no team can drop past them, I hope reporters corner Yzerman and ask him his opinion on the structure of the lottery.

Patches out for at least 6 weeks in Vegas and apparently it's looking like Stone is gonna miss some time too.

Go get em Gorts... errr Drury

At least Arizona is a nice place and they have the best jerseys in the league

Upstate NY and Central NY all day over Arizona. Would I rather live in a desert or Ithaca, Buffalo, or even f***ing Binghampton. Easy choice. Specifically living by the finger lakes or great lakes is much better than a place like Arizona. Plus a true four seasons over dry heat.

I love deserts! I live in Canada but I have cactuses & palm trees at my house

What in the hell? I'm listening to Aaron Ward on 690 and they ask him who was the player that didn't get the most out of his talent. Ward said Michael Nylander. He said he was the first guy he remembers that could basically do every trick with the puck in practice. But then when the games would start it was like his brain was malfunctioning.

I was positive they hadn't, but I still double checked to see if they crossed paths anywhere other than NY. Michael Nylander, lacking a brain on the ice? The guy, and the entire line was like poetry out there. Cerebral as the day is long. An absolute beauty. And a grizzled vet. We could use that ilk right now. Get serious Mr Ward.

This Buffalo Arizona game on NHL Network is depressing. I feel like I’m watching an ECHL game.

Holy moly, hawks losing 4-0 in the first to Pitt.

Coliton might be the first coach canned

likely not his fault either. Attempted and convicted rapist protectors in the hawks organization exited the rebuild 1-2 years early to distract from the headlines. That Jones extension will end up being worse than Karlsson.

Buch with 3 shots in the first, very physical too. Threw a huge hit his first shift. Threw some cross checks and thought he was going to get a penalty with the new crackdown on them

18 points in 12 regular season games with the Panthers. He had 24 in his final 90 games with the Flames.

Remember when a contingent of us here really wanted to go after Bennett as a middle six C/W addition who needed a change of scenery and a majority of posters insisted Bennett was another Lemieux we didn’t need?

Dude would have been exactly what this roster needs. He’d be a perfect Panarin center. The hat trick tonight is just a continuation of last year. He’s been nothing but fantastic since getting out of a horrific Calgary organization.

Buch is a wrecking ball out there

Buch got an assist

Darren Pang last night reported that Erik Johnson is the most senior player in all the 4 major sports. Been a 'Lanche since Feb 2011.

That’s some lazy reporting from Pang considering the obvious ones… Crosby and Ovechkin have been with their team’s since 2005.

Malkin, Backstrom, Letang, Toews, Kane, Marchand, Getzlaf, Kopitar, Brown, Bergeron, Etc.

Bergeron, Getzlaf and Brown are all from the 2003 draft. Bergeron debuted the earliest and is the longest tenured player in the NHL.

With Kravtsov no longer in the long term plans, I wonder if the Rangers renew their interest in Keller if the Rangers make it worthwhile for Arizona to retain a bit. He'd sure look good on Zibanejad's right opposite Lafreniere.
