That’s still not great. They’ll need to give him an even bigger contract soon, and it will have to eat up UFA years too.

They are built for the now, paying him more now would require them to lose more players. I think this helps them try and win now and then when some players salaries come off the book they can resign him. A 6 or 7 year deal would have had to be in the close to 10 range, how much more than that could he want in 3 years? 11? I think its a good gamble.

I don’t think they’re winning shit. I think they just gave their franchise player a 3-year contract.

I don't think they are winning either but they feel they're in it, theyll still sign their franchise player at the end of this contract.

no need to call out gropp...we picked 6 guys that all suck before he went.
Before I posted I had to google his name to make sure I spelled it right and I was also curious to see where he went in the draft. I forgot he was a 5th round pick with all the anticipation Wild fans have had for him finally coming over I thought he went higher.

Montreal made some good changes and those changes even look better because they definitely look like a playoff team in that division. They have the best depth in that division and could make some noise with their increase forward depth/size.

Goaltending will be their downfall.

Also they just signed a ton of bodies. Im not sold on them doing a whole lot this year.

I think depth could prove important for many reasons this season. I think they signed some decent talent. Their problem is elite talent albeit suzuki is someone to watch.
I would not be shocked if they won that division. They probably take 2nd or third. Not saying they go far in the playoffs but they are definitely trying to get bigger while still being tough to play against
I think their goaltending is more than fine and I know Price gets tons of hate on here

Couldn't be more excited for Wednesday, but this season is gonna be such a circus. When these teams are actually in contact with one another, this is gonna get messy quick.

I honestly don’t know but how are things going in the NBA? Don’t follow enough to know but haven’t really heard of a ton of chaos and they’ve been playing for about 2-3 weeks now no? I’m still trying to stay positive

Yeah, i'm not too sure either. Haven't heard anything bad yet, but I also have no clue if and how their league protocol differs.

Overall I think it's gone fine in the NBA but there have been cases of guys (Harden) breaking protocol, situations like this:

I suppose that's the point of the NHL's taxi squad business, so if a bunch of guys have to miss a game here they can throw Rangers jerseys on Crawley, Blackwell etc. I know they won't want to postpone too often because the season kind of has a hard closing date with the Olympics
