Washington’s days a top team in the East are about to expire. Them and Pittsburgh are in trouble. Not much in the pipeline to fill in and extend however many prime quality years Ovechkin and Crosby have left into deep playoff runs. They both have so many flaws.

They are getting older but Anders Lee taking out Niklas Backstrom from the outset was a huge blow to their offense. The other thing is I think they'd rather have Samsonov than Holtby.

It’s always been the big gritty teams, and elite defense. the Penguins 2 cups just tricked everyone into thinking it changed .

Eh, the Blackhawks weren't exactly a big gritty team either and they won 3. Thats 5 cups in the past decade, not counting the Pens 09 cup because I honestly can't remember that far back. Other than Crosby, those teams shouldn't have anything we don't already have cooking in the oven.

you consider Chytil a more expendable player? why?

More expendable than the guys they can't/won't move (Panarin, Kreider, Zibanejad,Kakko, 1OA), yeah.

Its no secret that they want to diversify the forwards and I don't think that means add a 4th liner and be done with it. Between him and Buchnevich, I'd wager that one of them will be gone. Perhaps not in a deal for the player they eventually add, but they're going to need to open up that roster spot somehow.

I still think it will be Buch.

I agree that it is more likely Buch goes before Chytil.

I agree in that Samsonov should have been the goalie for them. Is he injured? Holtby has been terrible. They had Game 1 and he parted the seas for the Islanders to come back.

I think they would love to replace Buchnevich with a Josh Anderson/Tom Wilson type. Its definitely tough to find guys like that. There is not a lot in the league and the team’s that have them tend to hold onto them.

I keep thinking Josh Anderson because JD has the familiarity with CBJ and they may be open to moving him since he has been battling some injuries. I’d be willing to take that risk that he is healed up and this wont be something constantly recurring because we are desperate for a player of that ilk.

Gauthier also seems like a guy who is willing to go to the dirty areas, drive the net. That may come out more with time and experience. But I also dont think he is someone who is willing to “muck” it up like Anderson/Wilson.

Domi demanding the puck and whiffing

It amazes me how teams dont have people in front of the net and shoot with the goalie having clear vision

Small sample size, but post Ratboy Buchnevich is kinda that player himself. Obviously not as rugged as those guys, but he’s really stepped up his physical game. It’s almost like he sees the writing on the wall regarding his tenuous spot in the “core” and is trying to find his niche.

It’s 1-0 philly late and I can’t even say hart has been good. He was beaten clean 4 times today. Amazing luck if they pull this one out as philly has done zip tonight

Kevin Hayes looks like booty cheeks but Bozo is playing like a changed man.

If we send Trouba to Vancouver for the offseason he's gonna come back and win the Norris.

I liked miller here especially when the line of miller and Hayes played well but I was wrong I thought I kreider was the better player of the two.
Kreider still does a few things better but Miller has just had a ridiculous year

Blues did their best Rangers defense impression on that Miller goal wew. Not great by them.

Insane pass by Pettersson
