But Pettersson was definitely the Rangers target.

I forgot where it came from but the NYR's wish list top-3 for that draft, and again, I could be wrong, was:
1)Makar
2)Pettersson
3) Glass

Earlier in the day, after they had acquired the pick from Arizona, the NYR tried to move up higher than seven, to no avail.

Coming away with Keller and Pettersson in those drafts would've changed the direction drastically.

But I feel pretty well over it now.

Coming away with Keller and Pettersson in those drafts would've changed the direction drastically.

But I feel pretty well over it now.

I will never forget the 2015 draft and the moment the Oilers trade was announced.

Bettman: We have a trade to announce. The Edmonton Oilers are trading the 16th overall pick...

Me thinking: Oh boy. Here we go. We can grab Barzal (I am a huge T-birds fan so I was a bit biased haha) with this pick we get for Talbot

Bettman: ...To the New York...

Me: OMG. I can't believe it!!!

Bettman: ...Islanders in exchange for Griffin Reinhart

And that rush, that high, it was gone. Just like that, I was sitting there just stunned

How do you figure? A Habs upset over The AV squad would have been awesome and becomes that much tougher. Hopefully Niskanen gets 3-5 games. A Gallagher type would be welcome on our roster. Lemy I suppose could become Gallagher lite.

He's a star now. Don't feel too bad. Tampa didn't even see it coming. But, man, he'd make a nice 2C right about now.

6 of his 10 points have come on the power play where he plays with the likes of Pettersson, Horvat, Boeser and Hughes. At even strength he plays with at least 2 of those guys every shift. He didn't play with that level of talent in NY. Credit to him for producing well when given the opportunity to play alongside some elite talents.
