Islanders roster isn’t that bad , plus they are playing amazingly right now. They got figured out halfway thru the season but since this bubble is like a new season , they’re riding that wave all over again.

It's really not good at all. They've been the beneficiary of facing some really shoddy goaltending and teams that haven't looked a whole lot better than the Rangers did.

As they get deeper, the better teams that advance will play better. Thats where the Isles will get smoked out.

they dominated Florida and they are dominating Washington. This isn’t Arizona getting outshot 50-20 and squeaking out a win. I know Florida stinks and Washington are a paper tiger but I still think they can be a threat to some better teams. They play that super suffocating style and a lot of teams can’t figure out how to beat it.

When people inevitably complain about trading some skill for some more grind oriented players, I'm going to force them to watch this period to understand why it happened.

I think most people here understand that we have too many soft finesse players. I’d happily trade some of them for some really jam guys. They may not put up the numbers in the regular season but they are players you win with.

Yep. Maybe give the Isles their due. To say that they are going to get smoked, is a little much. No doubt, roster is flawed in a few areas and PP is atrocious: however, they are progressing and learning how to compete in the playoffs is valuable.

Not sure why you're trying to make an issue out of this. You need a balance of players to win and right now, this team doesn't have any grindy, heavy forechecking forwards. A lot of skill but in a tight series, they can't do anything.

when people want more grind and grit on this team, why is it automatically shot down on this board?

Whose making an issue out of this?

My point is that WE NEED the grind and grit.

And nobody is getting "smoked" by anybody. For a fanbase of a team that got their shit kicked in 3-0 to Carolina, people actually have the nerve to talk shit about the Islanders? They are up 3-0 and going to round 2 while the entire eastern conference is wide open. Who cares what their roster looks like, they're winning right? Hopefully we will be up 3-0 in a playoff series soon

I give the Isles defense of Pelech, Mayfield, Pulock (25-27 years old) credit. They are in their prime, tough, smart, mobile enough and don't take shit. The Caps just don't have enough to get thru the islanders defense unless it's on the pp. It's obvious the Caps are the weakest of the 4 top seeds in the east. The Caps barely have one line doing anything and the defense is beyond mediocre and they have zero safety net after Holtby.

lol not since 2007

Hey if Columbus finds a way to come back, Calgary can win their series, Islanders win their series, maybe Montreal wins theirs???, Vancouver wins theirs our 23/24 pick can probably climb up a few spots. Of course Carolina has to lose sooner rather than later.

One of the biggest takeaways is that Kuznetsov has really fallen off from a couple years ago. People considered him a top 10 C at one point. He's so underwhelming.

We need a coach that gives us a real structure. With our talent that alone will make us contenders. The islanders player for player are trash.
