Carey Price is the clear Hart winner. I don't see the argument for anybody else really, as far as value to their team. Without Price, the Habs are a lottery team.

Price will prolly win it but Rinne is who I would prefer to see win. He is truly an MVP for the Preds and a stud goalie.

Yeah, it'll be Price or Rinne. I think Rinne might get the edge due to his team's higher slot in the standings, even if that might be a counterintuitive thought.

West playoff race

- Canucks beat Bruins 2-1
- Flames lost to Rangers 1-0
- Wild losing to Oilers 2-1 ,, That will be a bad loss for Wild in playoff race if it happens
- Jets up on Stars 3-1

Without Rinne the Preds are a lottery team

Habs have better backup so I doubt they would be that bad + They play in East

I don't think it's close.

21st in CF%
20th in SA FF%
24th in S/GP
22nd in SA/GP
22nd in GF/GP

…and yet they’re FIRST in GA/GP and SIXTH in 5v5 F/A

They're getting outshot every game, they're getting out-possessed every game, they can't score, and yet they manage to keep more pucks out of their net. It's basically ALL goaltending for them, while Nashville is top 10 in all the same categories.

Rinne is seeing less action per game and getting more run support. I don't think the Preds are a lottery team without him at all. They may not be 1st in the division or league, but they'd certainly be a playoff team with their numbers.

Nick Leddy currently ranks 43rd among defenders in scoring (Behind 2 Hawks I would add)

Defenders younger or of similiar age group (23-26) who have more pts then him

Ekblad - 19 yrs old (Fla)
Lindholm - 21 yrs old (Car)
Hamilton - 21 yrs old (Bos)
Klingberg - 22 yrs old (Dal)
Faulk - 22 yrs old (Car)
OEL - 23 yrs old (Ari)
Barrie - 23 yrs old (Col)
Fowler - 23 yrs old (Ana)
Krug - 23 yrs old (Bos)
Vatanen - 23 yrs old (Ana)
Josi - 24 yrs old (Nsh)
Hedman - 24 yrs old (TB)
Brodie - 24 yrs old (Cal)
Karlsson - 24 yrs old (Ott)
Doughty - 25 yrs old (LA)
Carlsson - 25 yrs old (Was)
Subban - 25 yrs old (Mtl)
Pietrangelo - 25 yrs old (Stl)
Muzzin - 26 yrs old (LA)
Shattenkirk - 26 yrs old (Stl)

So right now outside of the many older vet NHL players outscoring him you have

1 - 19 yr old
2 - 21 yr olds
2 - 22 yr olds
5 - 23 yr olds
4 - 24 yr olds
4 - 25 yr olds
2 - 26 yr olds

All outscoring Nick ,, Not all that special an achievement to be 43rd ranked NHL scoring defender at 23 yrs old

When you compare defenders in his age range 21-26 he isn't all that impressive

why is he being compared to 26 year olds??? he is 23...

That's a nice raise for Leddy. Could end up being great, could end up being overpaid.

I love those arguments why we should have kept Leddy. We got good value back and he would be gone next year for sure. Oduya was better than him the past 2 years and has proven chemistry with Hjammer. Oduya isn't as bad as some say.

Sorry to say this, but I've had no doubt Leddy would look good in the East...

Anyone else have this awful feeling the Kings will win cup again?

Dumping Richards and beating Hawks seemed to be turning point of Kings season

Yeah I think they will.

I wouldn't call the feeling 'awful' though. They're a well-managed team with a good coach that provides young players with a legitimate opportunity to make a difference in the lineup.

Yes, a Kings win would ultimately forever relegate the Chicago Blackhawks as the 80s Flames to their 80s Oilers. So be it. The better teams deserve to win and ultimately be remembered.

I'm sure, far into the future, some incredibly dedicated, niche sections of the hockey fandom will remember the 2010s Blackhawks were pretty good too, while everybody else remembers the Kings as the one true dynastic power of the era.

Nah it would be more Hawks becoming Avs and Kings becoming Wings

Avs 2 titles vs Wings 3 titles during the Wings/Avs rivalry years

With B's playing role of the Stars of that era (1 cup + 1 loss)

No team since the 80s Oilers has won 3 cups in 4 years.

If the Kings win this year, they'll accomplish that, and forever be compared to that Oilers squad. The team lost in the long shadows that team casts will be the Blackhawks, much in the same way the 80s Flames were a fantastic team, but never quite good enough to consistently outdo the Oilers for any stretch. The almost-good-enough-but-not-quites, if you will.

The Kings should have worn those golds for the Stadium Series instead of those god awful ones they did wear.
