With the cap space we now have let's bring in Yandle...trade Shaw McNeill Polka or whatever the hell his name is and some picks and let's get Yandle...he solves sooooooo many problems

Leafs retain 50 percent of Winnik's salary/cap hit, important for cap-strapped Pens

No huge surprise.

Best organization in hockey seems to always find a way to get it down.

The Blackhawks were in on Sekera as well.

So the question becomes, is Stan a bad negotiator, or does nobody want his prospects?

Because a 1st and prospect is certainly doable for the Hawks...unless Stan was either silly enough to say no, or the Hurricanes looked at our prospects and though 'hmmmm, yeah, we'll have none of that crap, thanks'.

I can't imagine Stan would be silly enough to covet a 1st pick. We know there's a good to great chance the 1st rounder just ends up benched, scratched, sent to rockford and traded for a depth D when Q decides he doesn't like how the laces fall on his shoes.

Sekera isn't worth (to CHI) a 1st + 2nd rounder last year, that's why it didn't get done.

Hawks had the pieces to get Sekera. No one is looking at our prospects and turning up their nose I'll guarantee you that. Our pool is SIGNIFICANTLY better than LA's. That Sekera deal is way too rich for a rental, which is what he was to the Hawks. For the Kings, however, it is justifiable because he isn't a rental to them. McKenzie and everybody is already reporting talk around the league that people would be shocked if LA doesn't resign him. LA is in a unique situation with the Voynov stuff.

exactly. and if Stan thinks he can land Petry for less (we have been rumored on Petry prior to Oduya getting hurt) no reason to piss away picks like that...rather save the first rounder and land Petry if a 2nd and a prospect or two can land him which it seems like it could.
