I think the sellers market crashed with Kane out; teams are expecting returns like yesterday, but won't get them.

You wanted Stan to throw away a 2015 2nd + a possible 3rd (If panthers make playoffs I imagine it will be Devils) for a 43 yr old fading RW who last time he made playoffs could barely keep up with tempo and struggled

Can you put 'winning the cup' as a condition on a pick?

Like, we'll give you a 2nd and such and such, but if the Blackhawks win the cup, that 2nd becomes a first. (or, likewise, a 3rd becoming a 2nd, etc).

Cause I mean, if I have to choose between 3 cups and 6 years and a mid-late 1st rounder that Q might not even see fit to play at the end up the day, I'd go with the cup. And if we don't win it, it's a 2nd anyway.

...and whose response to not getting the ice time he feels entitled to is to whine about it to the press.

Don't need him.

a 2nd and 3ed is absurd for Jagr. Especially to a team outside the playoffs.

I think that's kind of the point. Dale is desperate to make the playoffs this season and they're not far away from Boston, who continues to slip.

Plus, surrounding young players with veteran leadership yadayadabull****

So glad that dope isn't our GM.

All told, I think that dope did ok for us. He put together one hell of a team in 2010.

A completely unsustainable team, I'll grant you, but WHAT an unsustainable team.

He wasn't the sole architect of that team. A lot of key members of that team were in the system when he got here.

Seems like an overpayment for Jagr, but I think it's a good move for Florida. Presence of a legend on a young team, a player who might get some extra people in the crowd, send a message that they're pushing for the playoffs, etc.

Plus I might be going to the Panthers/Bruins game down in Florida next month, so anything that adds some more excitement to that game is fine by me.

The Blue Jackets just traded Nathan Horton to the Toronto Maple Leafs for David Clarkson.

I don't ever want to hear an idiot claim Bickell's contract is untradeable again.

Well isn't Horton going to retire because of injuries so its basically just releasing Clarkson's contract?

That still means the Blue Jackets are stuck paying Clarkson though.

I guess it kind of makes sense, since the Blue Jackets have to pay him whether he plays or not (though if it's due to injury, I'm almost sure the insurance company covers it..?), and they're not rolling in money the same way that Toronto. Toronto can afford to pay somebody not to play, so long as they're not on the cap.
