Was that the game Don Cherry bowed to the Montreal crowd to "thank" them for that call?
That's the one. One of the easiest TMM calls in history, too. I read once that one of the linesman was physically restraining Bruins players from getting onto the ice because they had so many out.

Harry Sinden fired him after they got eliminated in this game. Sinden hated him. Not even Gilles Gilbert standing on his head in goal could save Cherry's ass. It wasn't long before he ended up becoming a clown on television.

I wonder what the Rangers' chances of winning the Stanley Cup that year would have been if the Bruins had made it through instead of Montreal.

I'm simply rooting for the Western Conference now. STL would be a cinderella story. SJ would be great too. First timers.

I hate the Bruins, but man do they prove that physical hockey is still a valid thing. Their development of players emphasizes this.

Correct me if I'm wrong but DeBrusk for example, when he was drafted he didn't seem all too physical to me. Now he's a beast of a PWF.
Pasta too, big, physical, offensively gifted players. Great development.

To me Pasternak is the modern scorer.

The Bruins are an organization that also drafts natural lefties that shoot right. Pasta and Bergeron are two examples.

Also am entertained by Marchands Tortorella like pressers.

Anyone out there rooting for the Sharks? Seems like the majority are pulling for the Blues.

Out of the west, I like both. St Louis has never won and I love seeing the players who have been in the league forever get their first, whether that's Ray Bourque or Joe Thornton.

Rooting for the Canes though. I have my number 1 team, which is the Rangers, and then two 1As, which are the Predators and the Canes. 1A meaning that I root for them whenever they aren't playing the Rangers. Both are because I've spent significant time with them as my local team.

Really don't like Thornton. I'd happily see him retire cupless.

Really don't like the West. I'd happily see either team cupless after the SCF.

See, I view that whole thing as a positive, since it's what got the Rangers focused after a 3-3-3 start.

Also, in those 9 games... he wasn't wrong.
The Rangers won that game easily without breaking a sweat.

It was a bitter comment because they were the toughest team in the NHL that year. He couldn't have been more wrong.

He called the Rangers soft in 2011-12 season after the Rangers whooped the Sharks. He came off as overly bitter.

I can understand that but for me, I love trash talk both ways through. I think it makes the sport fun.

Also it was a billion years ago too lol.

Me too. I’ve always disliked him since he stole the MVP from Jagr. That plus him calling the Rangers a soft team ironically during the Torts era. Plus I’ve always felt like he’s been a choker his whole career. Easy Hall of Fame Player, but not a clutch performer.
