I think the Rangers have always known that the latter half is the worst half, but if you have a better idea to sell skyboxes to corporations for business purposes than than names of former glory on the back of the jersey, I'm all ears.

Not to mention the fact that even a good portion of regulars seem ready to bite themselves in the ass once again

What is the kool kat front man of JD & The Straight Shot supposed to do?

i'm not sure how many tickets those names sell...does the average non-hockey fan even know 90% of the players? that said though a better way to sell tickets is to have a winning team. if the rangers are good then msg becomes the place to be.

If we resign Kreider will we be saying the same thing?
Benn falls into the Shattenkirk body category. They're 'fat' for professional athletes.
Kreider takes care of himself but still has issues.

Went to bed after the 1st OT. I was like whatever's going to happen.
Sucks for us. We drop from a late 1st to a middle-ish 2nd.
How does that suck for us? Sure 28 would have been great.
So we get 47 or so. Take a home run shot with it. Or use it to trade up. Or, keep it to replace our 2nd we traded to Carolina for Fox. Wouldn't have signed Zuccha anyway, I suppose.
2020 1st IF Zuccha signs will be a "significant" 1st in yet another talent laden draft. Gonna be much higher than a 28. Imo.

Couldve sworn that puck was in on that Benn wraparound. Shocked they didnt take a closer look at that.
Bennington was shaking his head and looked visibly pissed right after, he probably thought it was in and the game was over.

But yeah Benn was garbage the entire series. He looked completely outmatched and intimidated.

Yeah zucc had that goal at the end of the 3rd if Shenn hadnt crushed him. Total interference, but a good play to save the game for the Blues. Blues deserved the win. They totally outplayed the Stars for long stretches.

Now more pressure on Gorton and company to nail 19/20 since there is no backup at 28ish. The Fox move helps a lot but now makes you wonder if they go safe with the Winnipeg pick?

so first as a general comment I hate the negative aspect of the term 'safe pick' as if it means the player isn't good...I know that wasn't your point but just saying...

that said having another 1st would have been great and this hurts our ability to trade up but this should change nothing as far as strategy at #20. we already have our 'safe' pick in Kakko. that allows us to swing for the fences the rest of the draft.

we need quality not quantity...we've stockpiled so much talent recently that i don't know where everyone is gonna fit...and that is before we add 2 more 1st and 2 more 2nds this year. a top pick next year, hopefully another from dallas and most likely another 1st this year or next in return for Kreider. so thats 5 more 1st the next 2 years...and that hasn't even dipped into free agency or trades. The last thing we need to worry about right now is having enough depth.

Kudos to refs allowing the boys to play.......BUT for an 85:50 game to be played and not ONE single penalty called on the home town Blues, well.....I call bull****.
Just to name 1.....how about Zuccha getting crushed on wraparound rebound?
I am sick and tired of the two NHL rule books...one for the regular season, and another (empty one) for the playoffs.

Yeah zucc had that goal at the end of the 3rd if Shenn hadnt crushed him. Total interference, but a good play to save the game for the Blues. Blues deserved the win. They totally outplayed the Stars for long stretches.
How that was not a penalty I will never know.

Time to be Mr. Glass-Half-Full:

First off, the Dallas pick drops by "only" 19 spots, not a full round.

Most of us hate Boston. In my opinion, from the Western teams left, St. Louis has the best chance of beating them. Dallas or Colorado definitely wouldn't.

Zucc was easily Dallas's best player in the postseason, I think they'll definitely re-sign him now. If they went another round or two, maybe he'd have gone cold or gotten injured, resulting in them passing on re-signing him. That would've ended up in us getting 28 overall this year, but their 3rd rounder (70s - 80s next year).

And with Dallas's core (Benn, Seguin, Radulov) obviously declining as evidenced by these playoffs, I could see them missing the playoffs next season, like they almost did this year. So the picks we end up getting from them could end up being 47 overall + a lottery pick.

No real way to know how them losing tonight affects us until a year from now.

If it ends up in St. Louis beating Boston in the SCF and Dallas re-signing Zucc & us getting a lottery pick from them next year, then I'm perfectly fine with that.

Yep. I was always more interested in the 2020 pick anyway. I think they're more likely to sign Zuccarello following this loss instead of them going to the WCF or beyond. At that point, if you make.it that far can your season really be considered a failure? But now the pressure is still high in Dallas, Nill is definitely on the hot seat after a devastating 2nd round exit, Heiskanen is due for a monster extension so they have a tight window here, and they'd be far less open to tossing away their 2020 first after just losing their 2019.

I'm taking my chances on that pick being much better than 28-31, potentially MUCH much better if something goes wrong with the Stars next season (Bishop injury) and we're instead looking at a lotto ticket.

That was depressing last night. So close. They could have closed it out at home. What a tease.

It's still been a great off-season, but that would have been the clincher. It's been fun having incentive to root for these playoffs.
Oh well. On to Colorado and thoughts of having KK, Fox, Kratsov, and Shesty.
