I can do petty. But nobody messes with my money.

And a difference between the 31st pick and the 58th pick counts as my money.
I'd obviously love the 31st, and I actually would have been happy to see some of our old players lift the cup.

But hey, if they're going to lose, at least this was funny.

What’s really funny is that this has a lot of the same vibes as a real conversation between me and some members of my family.

You know it’s bad when your loved ones make the Michael Corleone comparison.
You guys have molded me into more of a Tom with the Rangers. Which I pretty much am with anything other than hockey.

But I'm still Sonny if you cross a certain line and they crossed it.

J.T. Miller up to 3 goals in 61 playoff games.

61? In honor of Nash.

It's kind of a philosophical viewpoint. All the wishing and hoping for a Lightning run to the Cup in order to get every granular advantage for the Rangers would have been for naught anyway.
Sure, if the Lightning would have shown up as a competent team and won this round, I would be on board. It's not some hard and fast thing. It flexes and moves with the real time reality. The reason that I would be on board is because I would be thinking "this is things unfolding as they should". Not because of fate. I don't believe in 'fate' at all, never ever did or will.

Existentially, things happened the way they did. I rolled with it, got great enjoyment and onward we go.

I wanted that extra first rounder, but it was obvious that it wasn't going to happen after they lost game 3. Might as well root for the sweep.

TB may have been the favorite coming into it, but I told friends before the playoffs that I didn't think TB was built to win it all in the playoffs. It sucks not having that extra first, but it's not like they lost game 7 of the Finals. It is what it is. Moving on to root against the Jets and for Dallas.

Great news for Washington.

Washington is likely the favorite but don't count the Canes out just yet. If I were a betting me which I am, I'd put a few coppers on the Canes at the very least extending the series to 6 if not 7 games.

Boston-Toronto has 7 games written all over it. And so with the Jackets and Islanders going to be heading into Round 2 all nice and refreshed, it would not be a suprise whatsoever if one of those two made it to the ECF. This might be as wide open the East has been in I can't even remember when seeing a compelling case can be made for all the teams that are still standing. Gotta luv this shit....:)

And Hugh Jessiman went 12th.

We win!
Are you drunk?

It’s funny bc Machinehead said we’ll get a superstar in the 58th slot which is the pick we’ll get as a result of Tamp losing and when you look up the best players taken 58th overall, Kucherov who happens to be the star player of the Tampa team, is the best player taken in that spot ever.

Hugh Jessiman taken 12th has literally zero relevance here, even in a joking sense. I mean, aside from the fact that he was also a hockey player taken in the entry draft. That’s about it.

You guys think the TB is a revenge thing. Ya'll wrong. I just relish it when an overconfident Goliath gets fed his lunch by David.

I didn't want Tampa to win because it would be injustice that the bums he carried his entire career got the ultimate prize before him. No player is bigger than the team, but Lundqvist with his elite level of play is one of the few that can claim otherwise...

I meant not getting an extra first round pick is not good.

Much of my sentiments have to do with the team(s) involved. I couldn't watch the Lightning on the ice and like them, they don't jive with my idea of hockey, and that is too important to me.
I watched 6 or 7 of their games this season, at least. They just never grabbed me as an exciting team, a team with real personality.
Trying to pretend I wanted that team to win was just not possible. The Lightning deserved a bus ride out of town and left at the city limits, nothing more.
The Blues and the Jets are both good teams. If the Blues win, cool for the Rangers. Same with Dallas, though I wonder what Dallas is up to and whether Zuccs would be in their future plans.

This is what confuses me. What about their actions displayed they were over confident? Why is this assumed? Or maybe there's a quote or something that I just didn't see? Nothing I have seen from watching them shows that and I think people are just saying this because of how dominant they were in the regular season.

Pens v. Fishsticks brings no joy. Dislike them both and have no vested interest.

Bolts v. Jackets - I was never one for the revenge angle with Tampa. That seemed self-defeating. Rooting against Tampa when a first round pick is on the line is like purposefully hurting yourself to show your ex they made a mistake. They’re still not thinking about you, and you’re no better for it.

I root against ALL 62 win teams, unless they're the Rangers or have Lidstrom on them
