Not sure why there is such a hate for Tampa around here. Lots of guys that came up with our franchise that brought us great memories (albeit not the Cup) but still some great memories that brought us out of the dark ages. I was personally rooting for them hard to win as it not only helped NYR moving forward but because of those guys that used to be here. I also don't see how they acted as if they thought they should have been gifted the Cup.

As for the series itself and my take on it, they were just outworked as a team. CBJ took away any and all space away from them and they multiple times you would see them skate through the zone and it would be 1 on 4 or 2 on 5. Defenseman were constantly pinching at wrong times leaving the back end of the ice wide open leaving room for CBJ to get very good scoring chances. When they would try and dump it, as soon as CBJ gained control they got it out with ease as Tampa was simply not in position.

Credit needs to be given to CBJ as well for what they've done and not simply looked at that Tampa just flat out blew it. They've been a really good franchise for a few years now and right up there in the Metro. They're a very good team and clearly showed what they're capable of now that all their new additions have had time to gel.

It's kind of a philosophical viewpoint. All the wishing and hoping for a Lightning run to the Cup in order to get every granular advantage for the Rangers would have been for naught anyway.
Sure, if the Lightning would have shown up as a competent team and won this round, I would be on board. It's not some hard and fast thing. It flexes and moves with the real time reality. The reason that I would be on board is because I would be thinking "this is things unfolding as they should". Not because of fate. I don't believe in 'fate' at all, never ever did or will.

Existentially, things happened the way they did. I rolled with it, got great enjoyment and onward we go.

To hell with their smelly feelings.

Also, I have no venom for the old Rangers there. I don't get that either.

I think I tend to view things from more of a detached business standpoint, at least when it comes to acquiring assets and building a team.

That’s not necessarily the “right” approach, but I’m much more Michael Corleone than Sonny.

I don’t mind rubbing Tampa out. But I want them rubbed out after they attempted to pay back their loan.

Just tell him he's wrong.

He was a liability who nearly got me and my children killed. He was only sorry he got caught.

And if the rest of the family doesn’t like it, they’re more than welcome to enjoy their lives with their abusive husbands and don’t need to come to me when they screw up.

Alright, fair point on that second part.
