Gilbert Gottfried said he was up for that role and lost it out to a non actor at the time. Johansen was good at it but I can easily see Gilbert in that role too. Gilbert also lost out in a role to midget Billy Barty, he cracks up about that one.

Anyway, loved Johansen's solo album, In Style especially the song Melody. Liked it even more than his work in the New York Dolls.

I remember watching Scrooged many times as kid but didn't know until now that The Ghost of Christmas Past was played by a rock/punk star. RIP

The New York Dolls are one of my favourite bands. I was blown away when I found out David Johansen was Buster Poindexter. I love that he was both a pioneering proto-punk frontman and a novelty lounge act.
