I agree do you think that the stars would be less inclined to lose two consecutive first rounders by signing zucc and making the conf finals this year ? Or does one have no impact on the other ? I would rather take the sure thing and have them make the conf finals but i see what you’re saying .

I don't think the Stars are really in a position where they care too much about draft picks.

Most of theirs have sucked and they need to win now.

Yeah I tend to agree if zucc has a decent playoffs which I think he will if Dallas goes far they would have to try to resign him. Win win.

It’s interesting because if they go on a great run to the Conference finals and he’s an integral part you’d gotta think they’d feel that pressure to bring him back. Those fans arent as savvy they’ll want him way more than a draft pick. So I think they almost get stuck having to do it. I just want the 2020 pick more than the 2019 if it came down to it.

TV cameras just panned over to Stone again and I'd like to retract my comment earlier that I don't believe he's really 26 but rather he's really 35 and has been in the league 14 years. I believe he's really 39 and has been in the league 18 years and he probably played for the Rangers back in the dark ages and we all weren't paying attention...lol...

In order for the WPG pick to be 18, the lowest it can get, we'd need an ECF of CBJ vs CAR and a WCF of DAL vs VGK or COL

St. Louis making the WCF would also be good for that pick. Certainly not good for the Dallas conditional, but it wouldn't make the Jets picks any later.

That's rough.

I don't think WPG is too happy with his production. I read he was held pointless in 14 out of his first 21 games with them.
I’m not sure he fits in with the way they’re playing. When he’s at his best, he’s carrying the puck up the ice himself and he’s very cerebral so he will wait and find his mates but overall he’s used to carrying the puck up ice himself.

Winnipeg seems like all they’re doing all game is dump and chase all night. They should at least use him on PP2 bc even if he’s not doing much 5v5 he’s still a good PP player. Good PKer too.

I`m concerned about Dallas next game - they don`t look too good in game 1 and their coach was a bit concerned as well. Because their top line need to wake up and that can be the difference on a home loss, but I hope they prove me wrong in this evening 6 pm game. I don`t expect Zucc to be a huge difference in this matchup - he has barely played hockey in the last 5 weeks, and I wish he could recover another 2 weeks.

The Stars are a now team. They want to win. They have so much money invested in Seguin and Benn. The combined salaries for next season are $26.5M. The Stars need secondary scoring which is why acquired Zuccarello. Nill is a big Zuccarello fan. He loves Zuccarello. They don't care about the draft picks. Zuccarello gives them a better chance to win.

Hayes had one shift(I think it was just one) in the 3rd period before Ferraro said we haven't seen much of Hayes. He got one more shift. That was pretty much it. The best decision Gorton ever made was not paying Hayes and sending off to Winnipeg. I don't care what Brooks writes. Hayes sucks. Go eat your chocolate.

I don't miss any of the Rangers traded away by the Rangers. None of them. Good luck to TB and their McDonagh commitment. I want no part of Yzerman as team president. He inherited Stamkos and Hedman. Murray has made some quality selections. Yzerman didn't pick those guys. He has made some bad contract signings. His record isn't so pristine.

If they make the conference finals, we get a 1st instead of a 2nd, but the pick is going to be 28-31. If they re-sign Zucc, the 3rd next year becomes a 1st, and it isn't protected. If they miss the playoffs, it's a lottery pick.

If I have to choose between them, I'll take the pick in 2020.

I'd rather have another first than the WPG pick being 1 or 2 slots higher.

We should be rooting for the best scenario in each round. Dallas making it past this round is still a longshot. They didn't look good in their first game.

Regardless of who they play in round two, it's hardly a shoe-in.

I'd rather have WPG get destroyed this round and then hedge our bets with Dallas vs. St. Louis should that pan out.

I still think Tampa has an honest chance of Turning that series around. They just need to start playing hockey again

Tampa looked like us last night in home games 5 and 7 in ECF. Tampa stacked the neutral zone and we had no answer. Shut out 2 home games ECF. Would it be fair to call Tampa's offense AV like?

I guess, but we don't get to choose. And odds are the deeper they go, the more likely it is they re-sign Zucc. If they get knocked out in the first round, it wouldn't be shocking to see them burn it down.

Whatever it is, it’s a complete mess right now. Their amazing regular season is slowly slipping away.

Tampa is far from out of it, but I’m not surprised at what has gone down.

We had far too many losers that have been passed on to Tampa. Those Ranger teams were simply incapable of closing out a series - each year would we agonizingly limp through the playoffs, no matter how hot/cold we were going into them, only to be bailed out by Hank in Game 7s.

Cally, McD, Miller...none of them had a rep for stepping up when the going got tough. Zucc, Stepan (one big goal doesn’t change this) and Nash weren’t any better in that department.

I agree with like 99% of this.

McDonagh straight up outplayed PK and went HARD on Montreal that year. He was far and away a huge reason we won that series.

Other than that, yeah, totally agree with him not showing up a lot too.

Zucc also looked pretty good the other night, GWG and all. Again, for us, meh in the playoffs.
