Crazy stat that I couldn't believe. Kyle Connor only had 9 hits in 82 games this year. He's a great young player, but how can he not get even 10 hits in one season? Laine had 70. I embarrassingly know this because some joker added a hits category to our roto league this year.

Hah by check I mean play defense, pressure the puck carrier, close the gap, take away passing lanes, pick up the trailing man. Not necessarily hit.

I would say Connor is one of the most aggressive forecheckers in the game. He's Hagelin with a hands and a higher hockey IQ.

Guys not a banger at all. He'd get injured if he did that, but definitely not a guy whose afraid to get in the middle of things.

Jets have been mediocre since 2019 started. Blues floored the gas pedal in the same time span. Not surprising here.
Preds have been just as mediocre. Gorton could have picked the right teams to put the conditional first in play with

Is that for real....10 spot difference? Wow.

What exactly were the trade specifics...I'm too lazy to look

Well if they make it to SC that pick would be last or 2nd last of 1st round. Get knocked out here and are looking high teens / ver low 20s.

It may not be popular, but I've said it for months now.

The Jets should trade Laine this summer for a king's ransom. A team like Edmonton, Buffalo, or Detroit is ripe for the picking.

I don't see it happening. The Jets will need to get him a center that can facilitate. A puck carrier that can create space and distribute whose a LH shot.

The Jets need to move Kulikov and Perrault. That will open up a lot of options for them.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. Agreed. Still, I couldn't believe it when I saw Connor with 8 hits through most of the season. That's unintentional Lady Byng territory.

For example if the jets made it to the conference finals or finals or won the cup it could easily be a 10 pick difference

Excellent...thx for the specs. Wow, we really are in pretty good shape as I have much more confidence in the Blues not blowing this 2 game lead than I do for instance than I do the Jackets who are in same exact position.

Man I tell ya, this rebuild of ours could not be going any better. It's as if the hockey gods convened the past week at their HQ's in the Yukon and said "OK, we've been f'ng the Rangers for dozens of years and so it's time to give them and their fan base a break and we'll gift them the 2nd pick in the upcoming draft to help accelerate their rebuild and as a bonus, we'll have a few of these playoff teams either screw up or do well depending upon what the Rangers need to have happen".

I mean that's got to be it as there is no other logical explanation for our "out of the blue" good fortune....lol....:)

Absolutely, If Dallas and St. Louis come thru for us and we get two more first rounders (even if tampa blows it) I would say the hockey gods have been looking out for us since the lottery. Just think we had zero first rounders since 2013-2017 I believe (in fact Skjei was a very late first rounder in 2012) now we could have 8 or 9 in 3 years.

If Winnipeg loses in this round or next the get slotted from 16-27 since the conference finalists get 28-31. If teams below them who made the playoffs like Vegas or Columbus or Dallas or even St. Louis make the conf finals then that pushes our pick even higher. So basically the teams that don’t make the conference finals get reseeded based on points and if they were division winners.
Most likely if the jets lose this round we probably get a pick at 20/21.
Hope that wasn’t too confusing

No it’s apreciated. Gets fuzzy there. Thank you

I just hope Dallas resigns Zucc I think there’s a lot better chance of that than them winning two rounds. Besides we’ve got plenty of picks in this draft. The 2020 one is the one you want an extra first in. That’s going to be crazy deep.

Hayes for Lemieux and the jets first rounder. If the jets won their division that pick would have been much worse. Since they lost the division and hopefully lose in the first round that picks goes up significantly

OK, bl02. You swung me over. I have no familial, spousal, or mafia contractual obligations to Winnipeg and you make a good case on the picks scenario. So, I'm cheering for the Blues now.

Hellybucyk is good tho he didn't have the kind of year he had last year. He does have to stop that ROR shot tho...no excuses.

Hell of a game by Rhino Riley. Did everything he could to help the team win. Bunch of dives, getting into the dirty areas. Key faceoffs.

Lol hey whatever helps the cause of the Rangers we should all root for

So say Vegas Columbus and Stl make it thru. We’d be picking 19th with that Vegas Pick no?
I believe you are correct! All those teams had fewer points than the jets so they would push the jets pick to 19. Unfortunately but fortunately we need Dallas to beat the blues if they face each other next round

I personally believe Vegas and Stl win this round. Just say for arguments sake.

That would leave needing one of Columbus or Dallas to win to get 19th.

Best way is to say given Winnipeg loses. You need 3 of Columbus Dallas Carolina Vegas Colorado to advance to solidify 19th. You get 4 of them it’s 18th. No?

I agree do you think that the stars would be less inclined to lose two consecutive first rounders by signing zucc and making the conf finals this year ? Or does one have no impact on the other ? I would rather take the sure thing and have them make the conf finals but i see what you’re saying .

Sure but that would have no merit on the 19th pick right?

It's truly remarkable how replenished our system is with prospects we now have and will have going forward. I've been a Gorton fanboy from the get go and I know quite a few of our brothers in here were skeptical. The job he's done since being handed the keys to the car from Sather a few years ago has been nothing short of sensational. And it's going to get even better.

One thing tho. I respect Gordie Clark and his contributions in the past. But I want him somewhere in Siberia scouting Red Army players come draft day withought any cell or internet service as I don't want any communiques between him and Gorts just in case he tries to pull some crazy shit and attempt to influence Gorton to do something stupid....lol....:naughty::nod:

Yep best case scenario would be Vegas , Dallas , Carolina Columbus making conf final but I would say that would be about a .009 percent chance of happening lol. I would be happy with Dallas , Vegas and let’s say a Columbus making the conf finals
