Calgary has the right balance of talent and grit . The goaltending is just so so ...but they can score ! They also play for one another and have one another's backs and don't let one or two do all the heavy lifting ....they are a TEAM .

It makes me wonder if the rumors of Hamilton being difficult in the locker room are true. Trade him away and the team starts playing really well. Interesting.

NJD jumps over us. STL jumps over us. We'll be at 25th in the league by the end of the night. Philly in last picks up 2 hopefully. They're way better than 31st in the league.

Great night so far. Go Oilers. Also nice to see the Leafs lose again...you know the team that is supposed to win multiple cups without a doubt?!

Philly just needs to get their act together and get a modicum of decent goaltending. They should be able to climb back out of the bottom 5 range easily. I believe they are too far out of it to make a run at the playoffs although I said same thing last year and then they went on a crazy run.

The Blackhawks were really good at winning cups, and now they're really good at being bad
It probably will be close but Chicago should just do enough to get by us when all is said and done. Teams like Detroit, Ottawa, arizona and as crazy as it sounds Edmonton worry me more.

The Oilers are hell bent on improving. Whether or not they do enough to make it in is another story entirely, but they're going to try and that alone should be enough for them to finish ahead of the Rangers.

Arizona has been a 2nd half warrior each of the last 2 seasons. I think the path to #6 is pretty clear and if they can get out of their way and stop picking up loser points/wins when they get boat raced, bottom 3 is possible.

I'm not sure they can out suck Ottawa or Detroit, but a bottom 5 spot is more than good enough, odds are still pretty good to get into the top 3 from there

Although the Leafs are obviously headed in the right direction, I felt last season the same way I do right now, which is that they will not be good enough to get out of the ECF, if they make it that far.
They have too many swings in play, too many downs to match the ups. I think they believe that they can hide the problems on defense, but their offense will not overcome that defensive deficiency.
A team on the rise? They've covered a lot of ground with high picks that have proven to be good.
A true Cup contender? Not yet

They've been trying for a heck of a long time now and not sure if it's working. It's quite embarrassing to have the best player in the world and play like they do. With two guys like Mcdavid and Draisaitl if they tried half the time they should be a shoe in for the playoffs. That being said glad they look to be on their way to a win against the Sabres.

5-7 range seems to be a guarantee unless something crazy happens. 3-5 is a possibility with those other teams below us right now getting some points down the stretch. 1-2 spot still think is unlikely so we are gonna need a little lotto luck. Its definitely become worth the "sacrifice" of 3 more months of "meaningless" hockey to see if we can actually draft in the top 5 in what has been forever. I just hope beyond Hughes there will be some guarantee impact players like Dach/Cozens/ Podkolzin.

Wow, aside from Chicago getting their asses handed to them by the Devils of all teams you couldn't ask for a better night.

With that said, I hate Chicago... tank, tank win three cups, tank. If they somehow end up with Hughes I'll be livid. Not as livid as if he goes to NJ or Philly, but f***ing livid

They have to get by the Bruins. That first round seems to be very likely to happen. Gonna be a war most likely 7 games. Has to favor the Bruins. Unfortunate or not due to tough first round match up they could be out in the first round again.

I'm thinking along those same lines.

Wow I didn't realize how tight the race out west was.

8 points separate the 2nd WC from last in the conference.

There are 4 EC teams below the Rangers who are 11 points out of the 2nd WC.

Agreed but honestly its gonna suck if any team other than us get Hughes. Imagine if the Avalanche get him. They already have a beast in Mackinnon wtf. How about LA ???(ugh)I guess the only team I wouldn't hate is if Detroit got him even if they are in the East.

Hopefully making it a buyers market for those western conference teams. Hopefully, some of those teams come knocking on our door for a Hayes or Zucc or McQuaid

Would have been nice if they could have played like this last year and not gifted the Islander Dobson. Anyway, maybe the Hamilton trade helped them out quite a bit. They are an offensive machine right now. That goaltending will not hold up in the playoffs. They are gonna have to win some 6-4 or 6-5 games and not sure if thats gonna happen.
