Philly somehow fell face forward into a lottery pick two years ago and now this year they’ll get another lottery player.

And they were widely regarded to have like one of the top 3 prospect pools in the league.

Their management is incompetent

I mean they've had 3 top 10 picks in the 6 years. Provorov, Couturier and Patrick. Not to mention some crazy good seasons for Giroux and Voracek.

Crap goaltending and D has been their issue.

Their D shouldn’t be as big of an issue as it is, which is partially falls on coaching. They have a lot of good young defensemen on the team and in the organization.

Biggest failure of management is goaltending, I would agree

So why was Stralman a healthy scratch? He cooked?

No, Tampa’s depth, they are trying to get that kid Cernak ice time who will be replacing full time one of the three D falling off the books next year. No one has played bad for Tampa. It’s more about giving guys rest and playing some of the younger talent.

I constantly argue that goalie is the position where having an elite talent makes the least difference. The Flyers do everything they can to make that position look incorrect. Been that way for my entire life as a fan.

There's no way that the Flyers should be as bad as they are with the talent that they have. Makes me wonder if something is rotten in the locker room that hasn't come to light yet.

Process of elimination

1. Gritty? No, not there long enough.
2. Giroux? Probably not, seems like a nice guy.
3. Goaltending? Hmmmm. I remember 2 with a decent tenure. Bernie Parent, and Ron Hextall. Am I forgetting someone prominent? Maybe, then again......kind of proves that this may be the answer.

Carter Hart already looks like he'd be a star on any playoff position teams.

Gotta give the Canes some credit they have been playing much better lately.

Maybe, maybe not. Certainly not rooting for him (he is a Flyer, ya'know) You know who looks good (and huge) that Nilsson kid for Ottawa. Seems to cover the whole net effortlessly. Size alone makes saves.....started with the Islanders, played with Edmonton, St.L, Buffalo, Vancouver and now with Ottawa. Thats 5 really bad teams in only 7 years. (Okay, maybe not the Blues) Moot point/comparison i suppose.
Probably regarded as a journeyman, and certainly not a full time goalie. If he ever had a good defense in front of him, i just wonder how good he could be. Vasilevskiy dwarfs in comparison. Lol. Okay, rip away.

Flames look ridiculously good. While Johnny Hockey is an offensive dynamo I think Monahan is their best player.

4 players who have scored 50+ points with Mark Giordano right there ready to join that. Geez.
Ive caught quite a few Flames games lately. They just keep coming and coming. They give up a goal.....no big deal. Offense aplenty. That Gaudreau is one tough little s.o.b. The type of player you spend your money to go see, regardless of outcome.
Creates, creates amd creates some more. His linemates arent bad either, lol.
What we Rangers fans would die for, to have on our club. Hughes is that type of center.......right? Game changer? Suppose that isnt a question.

6 games on the schedule tonight. 4 are relevant to the tank…

Blues @ Caps Blues Stl is 1pt behind the Rangers with 2 games in hand. They are on a 2 game win streak.
Wild @ Flyers Flyers are having a terrific tank, with a squad on paper that isn’t half bad. They are 5 Points behind the Rangers still.
Hawks @ Devs Both clubs are tied with 41 pts. One team is certain to catch the Rangers in pts tonight. Guess you gotta hope for an OT game?

Avs @ Leafs Avs lost 3 in a row. They are still clinging onto a playoff spot.
Habs @ Bruins
Sabres @ Oil Oil are 2 pts ahead of the Rangers.

The latest I've heard is that he is being hyped up but not that good. Who knows.

Haven't heard or seen that so far. Guy is a tremendous talent that IMO would likely be 1 or 2 if you combined 17, 18 and 19's NHL Drafts.

Looking at the Jack Hughes thread over on the prospects corner of the site... seems like there are a few worried about how/if his game will translate to the pros

I do think he's a little overhyped, but to me he's going to be at minimum a bonafide #1 center

I just don't see how anyone whose even watched 15 minutes of him can't be floored...his skating and vision are effing ridiculous.

People did the same thing with Crosby.

After being at the top for a while, people tend to try and find reasons to knock you down.

Then there are the guys who want to be different for what ever reason.

If there's one thing HF is notorious for, it's over-thinking the top guys.

Everyone is so hellbent on being the one who "knew before everyone else" that it really does get comical sometimes.

Guy on the main boards: "will people start to resent the Caps and their fans if they were to repeat?"

"Start" he says...

Buddy, I'm on year ten.

That ship sailed, hit a f***ing ice berg, sank, and got eaten by nematodes.
