Teams should be frothing at the mouth for Hayes. Yes he's a rental, but he's young, hungry and two-way monster

To me Hayes would make a ton of sense for the Avs.

Not only could he slide in behind MacKinnon, they’re also going to be adding a top talent with the Sens pick.

And if by some chance they went with a center, they’d always have the option of sliding Hayes down to the third in the future when the value of his deal is softened.

Well we know Makar/ sens pick isn't being traded so what are they offering besides their first round pick (which will probably be a late teens early 20's pick)? Doesn't Timmins have history of concussions? Kaut would be awesome here with the rest of the young players we have coming up but that may be little bit of a dream

I think that’s where you’re looking at someone like Jost.

I don’t see the Avs moving Kaut.

Crazy Jost is only 20 years old. Only has one more year on his deal. I guess if thats the best offer we get for Hayes we take it but I am hoping for more.

And yet if you listen to Avs fans, it’s almost a contradiction.

He’s been considering a disappointment and there are doubts there that would make this board’s view or Andersson seem tame. Many people are saying he’s a middle six winger.

Until it’s time to talk trade, then the value goes up exponentially because he suddenly has upside again.

Now, in fairness, every board on HF does this. It just doesn’t make it any less comical.

The worst teams are always the most frugal on here.

I keep going to back to the Stastny deal.

A first, Erik Foley and a fourth.

So with that as a reference point, what’s considered an extra click or two on the dial?

Is it a first and Jost? A fourth as well?

Are the Rangers even high on Jost?

That remains to be seen.

And former top 10 pick like Jost can be a hard value to peg.

For the team that drafts them, there’s some strong emotions there — even when they feel disappointed.

On the other hand, even if said player never quite matches the lofty dreams of the fan base of the team that drafted him, that player can still turn into a very good NHL player.

And no one wants to get rid of a very good young player for pennies on the dollar. But finding that middle ground can be a real challenge.

Unfortunately I don't see the Avs as having the pieces we would want for Hayes. He's the crown jewel of the TDL and no way I'll trade him for the Avs pick and a prospect ... not enough in my book. Avs won't trade the OTT pick ... and that's that.

Wonder what we could add to get through Ottawa pick....

Ain't happening.

It's too high of a pick, with too high of talent on the board potentially in that spot.

Even if you get beyond talent, it's a cheaper contract for at least a few years, with a pretty high probability to also be productive. Not peak productive mind you, but productive.

Watching Plzen vs Frolunda.

Plzen features Peter Ceresnak, rightly dman, former Rangers draft pick, and former Ranger prospect Conor Allen who had a hat trick last game.

Frolunda hasn't had a losing season since 1995

A Conor Allen Rangers jersey remains the weirdest jersey I've ever seen at MSG. It was during one of the 7 games he played for us, so I can only assume it was his dad

Yeah, that's a wacko, or a family member lol

The guy can skate but wow is he a bad puck mover, makes Marc Staal look like a creative wizard....

Big night on the calendar. 10 games total. 6 are relevant to the tank.

Devs @ Jackets Dev’s, tied with the Rangers @43pts on a 2 game win streak. Jackets are on a 3 game win streak. Tough game for the Devs in Columbus.
Blues @ Islanders Blues, 1 pt behind the Rangers are now on a 3 game win streak. Tarasenko came to life last night. Hoping he get hot and elevates them to 4 in a row.
Canes @ Rangers Canes are 6 points ahead of the Rangers. They won 2 in a row, but anything can happen on Pride night!
Ducks @ Wings Jeezus Chriistmas, who loses 11 games in a row? The Ducks, that’s who. The Wings coming off a W are 2 points behind the Rangers. Hand them #12!
Panthers @ Habs Panthers, on paper are legit. Panthers on the ice are not. They find ways to lose… 6 in row actually. They are 1 pt behind the Rangers with a game in hand. They need Trocheck back.

Knights @ Jets
Kings @ Wild Kings, one of two clubs yet to reach 40 pts on the season. They are old. Like a dying star.
Caps @ Preds
Lightning @ Stars
Pens @ Sharks

Yes I admit it`s hard to watch Rangers, but we don`t have depth for Ryan Mc. at the moment when they moved him. But it looks promising with our 2018 defender prospects - so hopefully we end up with another top quality forward this summer, and if we are lucky in the draft so we can forget the whole season.

Because tanking is really boring and consider to close the whole tank topic, because I don`t have a tanker mindset to sport usually and often not a patience person, but I know an elite talented forward is essential for any successful NHL team after watching sport for a while and been active for over 10 years in soccer. :)
And drafting a top elite talent is going to be important.

And look at Elias Petterson now @Lion Hound 42 pts in 38 games first season and it has been fun watching him this season.

pretty sure this was already covered but is Parayko really on the block?

I'm baffled by the Blues. They looked like they had so many pieces in place and they were a powerhouse. One season later it's like everything went to shit.

And trading Parayko seems like the worst idea. Dude will be 26 this year. That can be potentially 8 years of top-pair RHD.

They've sort of come to life of late.

Wouldn't be a shock to see them pick it up and get in.

Watched that Binnington, another new goalie I hope sticks. If they seemed to have a problem, it was in net after the Elliot departure. Allen fell off a cliff, for whatever reasons. Tanked the team I guess. I mean they have good depth all around, how did that happen?

Yes they picked it up of late and may sneak in. The West got one wildcard spot that's like crazy contested. Blues can only aim for that one.

Yeah no one is really out of it in the west.

Even with the prospect of Hayes + Vesey/names? All I hear on the radio and the little I know of Colorado is that they are the ultimate one line team- Mackinnon even suggested breaking it up. There is literally nothing after the top 3. Having say Hayes/Landeskog on their second line, with Mac and Ratton on their first, all of a sudden may do wonders, plus a Vesey/Names on the third for additional depth. Now all of a sudden they are a very different team with a heavy 1-2 punch.. Names has also proven his worth in tampa that he can play with the best- can possibly fill in for one of the top 2 lines

Some combination of Hayes/Vesey or Names and say a 3rd may entice them to let go of that Ottawa pick..

Add our unprotected first in 2020 and maybe they do it but I still doubt. They might trade their first round pick but no way they trade the ottawa pick.
