Lessen I'm mistaken, they offered 8 years at 11 per? I'd hardly call that letting him walk for nothing.

I'm referring too last yrs trade deadline. When they choose to keep him and not add anyone to better their chances of making the playoffs. Didn't make sense at the time and looks even worse now with the probability of Tavares signing elsewhere.

So the buy out window is now closed and Beleskey didn't get bought out.

It's not like the Rangers need cap space for next year.

Currently sit 30th in the league in total salary, albeit they only have 13 players signed. But they don't seem to be interested in much of the UFA goings on, so Belesky's money at this point is pretty inconsequential.

Regardless of cap space, you'd think they'd want to save a Million or two

At least with having him under contract they have flexibility to move him down the road. Once the buy-out it done, that's it, they are stuck with that number.

I was hoping for a buy-out for the Bruins sake, but makes sense why they Rangers haven't bought him out at this point in time. Maybe next year or even the 2nd buyout window this summer.

Ya , I guess it does for them from that perspective.

JvR with $7m/yr for 5 years? WTF?

As each year goes by, those Marchand and Pastrnak deals that looked great already just keep getting better.

He's not a bad player, but he's n0t someone I'd overextend myself to sign.

Great on the PP, okay 5v5.

He has basically averaged 30 goals a year the last 6 seasons.

He's getting the same money and less term than a far less proven player IMO in Evander Kane.

The Marchand and Pasta deals are great, but 7 million per over 5 for JVR is pretty fair IMO for the production he's done.
