Not my point. Why do you believe that your hypothetical had more of a chance of happening than mine? How do you even know yours was an option?

I never said one hypothetical had more chance of happening than another. I said that it made more sense overall, and that instead of using superfluous pieces to address your needs, you're now diluting your current depth/prospect depth, which you didn't want to do in the first place. Which forward are they going to trade? Okposo? Neilsen? Grabner? Those are top 6 forwards for the Islanders. Diluting depth. You ever seen a team dilute their depth before? I'm sure you have....:sarcasm:

Why does it have to be an option NOW? Were those picks going to expire if they didn't trade them? If the Islanders continue to give up goals at an alarming rate, how does this move help them? Snow might have taken a page out of the Flyers book.

Islanders have the money to keep Vanek for long term deal which i am sure he wants at his age. As long as they dont miss the play offs badly I am sure he stays.

It's not always about the money.

He has strong ties to Minnesota, so that's a strong possibility for him.

Moulson will be fine now. Let's see what happens next year when some team gives him a five year $32.5 million deal.

The Vanek trade was a good trade for the Islanders. They sign him and they have two offensive threats with plenty of cap room. They can sign one more offensive player, and go after a goalie and mid level Dman.

Between, Reinhart, Pullack, and Donovan, they don't have to worry about D long term for now.

The deal changed slightly. Islanders have option on pick in 2014 or 2015 if it's a top 10 pick this year then the pick turns to a 2015 1st rounder...Shocked REgier agreed to this

Not sure he'd want to stay. There's lots of Minny rumours going around.
