Fiala is pumping up his offensive numbers and contributing nothing else and PLD caught up to Ryan Johansen even faster than i anticipated. Dubois contract was ugly the moment the ink hit paper. Fiala atleast generates offenseLA fans on twitter want to fire PLD & Fiala into the sun
Yeah, FiFI has actually regressed as a two-way player since his time with us and continues to be really bad with turnovers/giveaways. It's not a wonder that even with his offensive upside he's on his 3rd club (and maybe wearing out his welcome).Fiala is pumping up his offensive numbers and contributing nothing else and PLD caught up to Ryan Johansen even faster than i anticipated. What? You mean maybe Poile wasn't an idiot?Yeah, FiFI has actually regressed as a two-way player since his time with us and continues to be really bad with turnovers/giveaways. It's not a wonder that even with his offensive upside he's on his 3rd club (and maybe wearing out his welcome).

Wait. I thought it was just bad coaching.Jeez, I didn't know it was possible to get even worse defensively. He was a turnover machine here.
We did that for years ... with most of the hits coming in the middle rounds. Saros, Arvy, Carrier all 99 or later ... Girard who got traded away because there wasn't really a pipeline for him was a #47 ... consecutive drafts ... or '03 to '09 where it was Klein, Weber, Rinne, Hornqvist, Cr Smith, Ekholm all outside of the 1st round. The jury is still out on what Novak really is ... the 30g pace guy we saw from his call up last season through the injury early this, or the guy we've seen since his return. Parssinen is still young so we'll see if he is a hit with a late round or not. Tolvanen clicked with Seattle so it isn't that the scouts missed.Yeah, obviously there's some misses in there as well.
But the bottom-line is that they have found their franchise center, franchise winger and franchise all outside the top-25 in the draft. And another future top-six center and a very likely top-pair defenseman.
Their only top pick, Heiskanen, is also doing quite well.
Depth is nice to have, but I'd rather draft that elite talent and then fill the depth department through trade and UFA.
Our drafting in the 2000's was quite nice but nothing to write home about in the 2010's or 2020's.We did that for years ... with most of the hits coming in the middle rounds. The Stars had a pretty good run in later rounds going back a while now with Daley, Eriksson, Neal, and Benn all 2nd round or later across a six draft span. Then there are the trades and FA players still forming current the Dallas core ... Seguin, Pavelski, Dadanov ... they brought in some ex Pred named Duchene.
Yeah we had some great drafts between 2003-2009 particularly with defenseman. The question is why have we hit way less than we did in that era. Were we just lucky? Has our scouting approach changed? Has our developmental approach changed? Our drafting in the 2000's was quite nice but nothing to write home about in the 2010's or 2020's.
Also, Arvy, Carrier and Girard, while ok players are in no shape or form comparable to Hintz, Robertson or Harley. I'll give you Saros.
NopeSo Forsberg ended up in Team Matthews as a 7th round pick.
I didn't see the skills comp tonight, did he even get to compete?
Just more LTIR space for TB to... well, do what now?...Well, Sergachev is FUBARed
Just more LTIR space for TB to... well, do what now?...
I feel like I've seen them mix their D up on sides more than some teams... like Sergachev has played RD sometimes, despite shooting left... but of course I have no idea if they've been sticking to something more conventional this season like Sergachev-Cernak on their normal sides. Which is to say, I don't think they are going to take Barrie from us as our silver lining out of this...
What if we owned all of tampas picks?I thought about 'what if' they came to the Preds asking for McDoughnut back? Looking at their picks and prospects, their cupboard is bare.
I guess teams technically have an infinite number of picks though…What if we owned all of tampas picks?

I'm pretty sure they'd insist on Josi.maybe Cirelli for McD?
I don’t believe they would. The Bolts miss what Mac did. I’m not sure what Cirelli would help the Preds though. He is a defensive center who is the kiss of death for offense. He will also make 6.5 mil come July 1 and will have a nmc. So he will be going somewhere. His scoring is as streaky as Craig Smiths was and his goals typically come in a non meaningful time when the game is not on the line. Mutiple times Cooper has hade to move Stamkos up to the 1st line to get him away from Cirelli and get his scoring back .I'm pretty sure they'd insist on Josi.
Why not 2 draft classes? That 1st may end up being pretty decent.Preds already got a draft class for Jeannot...all of 70 games....in 2 years
