Near where sand and waves meet.
The first couple of NHL outdoor games were novel. Now it's interesting to the teams involved but not the sports world at large. The good thing is that the NHL doesn't have 3/4 of a team's starters opting out like we've seen in some college games.

Caught due to the mic'd up stuff. Thats gonna cause some holes to pucker in the future.
All the players are told before the game which players will be mic’d up on both teams. Per the CBA, any audio caught on those mics during a game can not be used against them for punishment reasons.

Well it looks like the Oil and Kraken have started to figure their shit out.

Looking at the standings it's sort of odd as the top three in both Western divisions are so far ahead of the rest of the pack that it will take a huge run or a huge collapse to displace any of those 6.

Just glad we are in the mix not already rooting for the draft

Arizona is starting to have some struggles which will help us some. Edmonton will only go as far as goaltending will allow. Theyre actually very good at suppressing shot volume

Interesting observation: Preds look to be at or close to league average on every good stat. I certainly did not expect that this year. But happy to be surprised.

Except for goaltending I would assume.
Youd assume wrong. Of the 32 goalies with 18 games played saros is 17th in sv% with .904 and 15th through 18th all round to .904 so our starting goaltending is very much mid.

He is also 17th is GAA with 2.91 right behind 16th (2.90).

He just gets alot more starts than most the others. Middle of the pack there is 23 vs saros at 30

As a team, we are 15th in Goals Against per game played.

I think part of what makes Saros performance seem worse is that he has put up a lot more total stinkers than he usually does. He's already had six games this season with a <.800 save percentage. Compare that to last season where he had one all season or 21-22 where he had four (if you count the two at exactly .800). He only got pulled early once all of last season but has been pulled early four times this season too.

I guess he has just been wildly up and down but average overall on the season. Feels like Saros is sub 90 S% and above 3 GA but clearly not.

Headed to Chicago on Friday and have tickets for Hawks/Stars on Saturday. I hope they both get minus 4 points. I'll be repping the Thrashers jersey :)

Though, selfishly not thrilled about missing Bedard. Oh well.

Gotta hope stars manage to lose in regulation there. They actually arent very far ahead of us. Theyre only 4 points up on us with 2 games in hand. They play an extra game this week possible we could catch or pass if things fall right. They have an all central week with the wild x2 then a back to back against us and chicago

Nylander signs an extension in Toronto. 8 years x 11.5 AAV. Now have 54.1 million tied up in 5 contracts going into next season (Tavares, Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Reilly). I guess as long as Woll turns into a #1 goalie they can fill out the rest of their holes through free agency.

Think they'll try to move Marner in the off-season. Wouldn't be a bad target for us considering the price and he has NMC so he doesn't want to go to a contender. We're one of the only decent teams with some cap space.

I think theyll try to unload Tavares due to his age and try and get a more reasonably priced 2C.

Pretty much any player of note having a NMC/NTC does make the situation tricky for Toronto. Highly dependent on how the rest of our roster plays out (particularly re-signing Novak) Tavares could be an interesting target for us if he's available for free. I'm not a huge fan of his but he wouldn't be the worst option as a stopgap 2C. Worst case scenario we could flip him at the deadline if we're not in contention next season.

Id take Tavares on his expiring contract especially with the understanding that he gets flipped if we are out of the playoffs at the end of the year. Even at his advanced age, he is better than what we got goin on in our middle 6C. Wonder what the cost would be. His trade protection probably makes it a non starter though.
