Common sense approach to all this nonsense around Peel

(this will never happen)

It would lead to more lopsided games, which will then result in viewers tuning out because more games will be already decided before the game is over, especially in the 3rd period.

Peel was not an anomaly. He was the result of the (unspoken) codex of game management the league implemented a while ago. I wouldn't be surprised if more morbid stuff arises in the coming weeks and months.
Here's to hoping a whistleblower arrives. Remember the stuff Bob McKenzie and others were involved, the "email scandal"?

It might lead to some lopsided results at first, but the players will adjust. prior to the lockout, guys would waterski whenever someone had a step on them. The refs starting making the call whenever they saw the stick parallel to the ice, and the players stopped with that nonsense. The refs just need to stay consistent.

I remember watching games in the dead puck era, the way the game is reffed today is much better, but they can still improve their consistency. Sometimes a light tap on the hand is called a penalty in one period, and then in the next period a player breaks his stick cross checking someone in the back and it goes uncalled. The inconsistency is the most frustrating part.

This has been happening at ever level of hockey forever. It's not NHL exclusive.

NHL needs to do a ref boot camp before next season, make it clear the calls should be consistent. They won’t, obviously, but it’s what should result from all this.

Just another embarrassing moment for the league that forgot about the sun.

Whys the Sabres game start at 8 tonight in Pittsburgh? Anyone know? Just curious.
Due to recent circumstances the officials requested an extra hour to game plan. They need to decide how many penalties to call, which players should get them, and who to designate for make-up calls. They have Risto penciled in for crosschecking if a make-up call is needed against the Sabres.
