I don’t know, maybe it didn’t fit the Ruff system. He had a good first season, but will probably return to the KHL next season.

When he's counted on to be a scorer, he's more Yakupov than Panarin. He clearly can only be counted on with a solid built team around him. See Zherdev; or countless other examples. He might be able to get a 1 yr 900K prove it deal next year, but it's likely he's back to the K-H-L.

He did just fine as the only high-end scorer for St. Petersburg, I think it’s very possible Lindy’s system just doesn’t work for him.
