if they penalized that hit, the one on Cozens should have been as well.

What that doesn't show was that he was taking strides literally from the other side of the rink to make that hit. Trying to go full speed into an unsuspecting player should always be more than 2 minutes.

Here's how it worked: Surveys were conducted over the past two months. Respondents were asked to rank their top 10 players at center, winger, defenseman and goaltender, based on a predetermined list of the top 20-30 players at each position. Players who were ranked in the top 10 on each ballot were given a numerical score -- No. 1 earned 10 points, No. 2 earned 9 points and so on.

There were 10 NHL players surveyed -- seven skaters, three goaltenders. There were 10 people on the hockey operations side surveyed, from coaches to general managers to player personnel executives.

It will be interesting to see where Eichel lands on the center rankings. They come out on Thursday.

Interesting to see that Hall's reputation hasn't been completely tanked by his on ice performance here:

There was one player who received a second-place vote only to fall short of the final ranking: Buffalo Sabres winger Taylor Hall, who was ranked there by a player personnel executive for an Eastern Conference team. Well, when the NHL has conferences, that is.

Hall's possession numbers this season are good. It's his 92.1 PDO that is putrid.

Hall is kind of like the Carey Price of wingers. His rep is still being inflated a bit by how good he was a few years ago versus where he is at today as a player.

I’ve said it for a while now, Powerpay goals have become critical to success so in a way the NHL can manipulate outcomes. At least to a certain degree. It would be interesting if there was tracked data on penalties.

There is and it confirms that the league has their fist on the scale.
