Interesting situation.

I guess Minny probably looks at this like this is twice Kaprizov has been injured playing the Jets so I get why their blood might be boiling. I know they were furious with big Stan and I‘m still not sure what to make of all of that. I didn’t think Dillon’s cross check was that egregious but he did take him out with it. I‘m not sure if it was his leg though and how he seemed to collapse on it. Odd play for me to read and diagnose what got injured?

Either way Hartman going with the intentional stick to the face of the mic’s up guy that wasn’t involved in the play is typical Hartman. He could have gone after the guy that injured Kaprizov but that would take a nutsack which he is missing, therefore he goes for the predictable smallest safest non fighter he can find.

This is what happens when you smoke drugs before you put together your power rankings.
Wow, that is a really bad reason to put the Jets at 10. We don't like them because their pp and pk is weak. Great goaltending and 5 on 5 play. Hmmmm, wonder if either the pk or pp will get better? And then where will the team be?

Too bad playoffs are notorious for refs abusing their whistles and calling more penalties :sarcasm:
Teams will try and turn games into penalty fests when they play the jets.

If Tampa beat the jets, leafs would have been knocked out of playoff spot.

These guys are all over the league after they got rid of the fighting now

Zucker just crushed Cousins tonight after Cousins knee'd someone. Both guys are pieces of shit
I dunno. POS slashers and crosscheckers were still here when fighting was at its peak... Didn't protect Hawerchuk from broken ribs... Yes, I'll always be angry about that garbage.

The only way to solve this is to make the penalties and suspensions actually cost more than taking out the other teams' players... And the NHLPA growing up and prioritizing the victims.

Fighting just added extra concussions to the mix after the initial injuries - great, give long term injuries to more players. Are we entertained?

PLD with 3 mins left in the 3rd, so far in full on mid-January meaningless games against out of conference opponent form in his game against the Leafs:

0 Points, 0 Shots, 0 Hits, 2 PIMs, -1
And Blake Wheeler with a grand total of 3 goals at 5 on 5, and that's with a ton of first line minutes. Guess who is in the market for an actual top 6 Right Winger before the trade deadline.

Glad we got rid of both of them

Looks more like middle tier CIS to me, maybe lower level U18 prep or AAA. The NYC/Tor game on right now has also been a lot more physical than I've seen from the previous incarnations of pro women's hockey.

Did Cheryl Pounder completely stop covering NHL to call PWHA games? It'd be a shame if she did, she was definitely one of the better analysts in Canada. I swear I remember hearing that she had and there were a bunch of panelists and personalities thanking her but maybe it was someone else :dunno:
I think she's doing something in management with the league. Definitely our loss and the PWHL's gain.

Cheryl was a really great analyst - you can see why she was such a great hockey player.

You seriously believe the US women's soccer team was bringing their A game against a bunch of kids? :shakehead
It's actually quite funny to hear some of the commentary around here surrounding womens hockey. You can tell it's a lot of dudes who's only involvement in the sport is watching or maybe beer league.

We played the MB Bisons women's team back when I was with Hot 103 and I was fully impressed. I have also been fortunate enough to play with some of Canada's Oympians and their skill and ability was tremendous.

The problem is, most people have only ever watched NHL seriously and they are measuring these women against the very elite of mens hockey players.

I've played with guys like Dale Weise who we would all call a plug around here, and when you get on a sheet of ice with him you quickly understand how good you have to be to play in the NHL. You see their skills and processing of the game and are amazed that they are tweeners or only get a cup of coffee.

Yes, women will never be as physical, fast or have as hard of a shot as men, but they can absolutely play the game of hockey at a high level.

I'm cheering for the PWHL and I hope they can survive and allow these athletes to make a good living.

To me, I hate Zucker the way I hated Neiderrater. Clean players who just play hard, hit hard, and generally piss you off.

Cousins on the other hand is trash, just like Marchand and Hartman. The thing that really annoys me is these guys can actually play hockey. They don't need to be dirty. They aren't like Reaves or others who's only value to an NHL team is to cause injury to other players.

There is going to be more and more of them. I see a lot of them in Junior now and more in Midget AAA/Bantam AAA. Its less about the big physical guys and more about the guys that can skate fast and hit hard and dirty now.

It's a real shame and should be a cautionary tale for the NHL when deciding what they are trying to eliminate from the game.

If you are trying to get rid of fighting (honestly, I'm cool with that), you simply HAVE to be very punitive with illegal plays, especially those that have intent to injure behind them.

If not, the league is just going to get uglier and uglier.

Hey they could all skate circles around me, no problem there. And I have watched and cheered for the national Women's team for years. I was more commenting that the marketing and presentation wasn't great. I'm trying to undersand why they decided to forgo team nicknames with fun logos that would actually appeal to people and maybe sell some merch, and instead opted for those generic city name jerseys.
