brought it up in their Dec predictions thread.... their sole regulation loss came against the Sharks of all teams :laugh:. and then OTLs vs MTL & CHI.

I believe the one game against the Rangers this year was an OT loss for the Jets.
 
So during the outdoor game today SN was running promo's for the All Star game in Toronto, got me thinking who could possibly be ours. Helle and Joshua both have a great chance, and KFC should of been there but his injury pretty well kills that. I think that Scheifele is looking ever bit the all star so far this year but I'm not sure he makes it.

Weird how the Hab fans are calling this a great hit. Cernak never even touch the puck.
So how many games does Anderson get?
My bet is Zero games but hey he did get 2 minutes for charging and 5 minutes for fighting while Tampa lost Cernak for the rest of the game (probably longer) and a center for 17 minutes.

The USWNT in hockey once planned a two-game series against two high school teams (Warroad and Thief River Falls). After losing the first game 2-1 (in which their second goal was given to them after about five minutes of game time pass had passed), they requested the next game be turned into a scoreless scrimmage instead.

Yes, I really do think that the USWNT in any sport would view a good boys team as a challenge to be taken seriously, and wouldn’t definitely play hoping to not lose.

And I’m not going to poo-poo women’s hockey or women’s athletics in general, least of all on the grounds of absolute skill level — I once saw a minor league Arena Football (RIP AFL..) game, and had more fun there than I could ever fathom at an NFL game — but the fact remains that it is minimal-body-checking hockey [EDIT: original post claimed none was allowed; rule 52.1 allows leaning or pushing in mutual puck struggles] played at about a mid-high school boys level. That’s going to be a tough sell for a lot of people, and the usual marketing strategy for women’s sports (“men, you are rank misogynists if you don’t support this!”) will only last so long.

It was even worse. Remember that hit that Krug put on Thomas during the Stl / Bos finals? That was similar but worse than the Chef hit, as Krug like took off the full length of the rink chasing after Thomas. Parros didn't even give the wheel a spin despite Thomas being out for the whole series.

Of course, you need to give time for both the chemistry to brew, but also the rivalries. Which is one of the things that's in the back of my head about this league. What happens when the bad blood starts to brew and players or rival teams just start pelting each other. What's the ref gonna do, call a hundred illegal body check penalties? You saw this in the Olympics any time USA and CAN played. Something's going to come to a head in this department.

And one more thing: I don't think I've seen a league with a more botched start. Say what you will about the attempted XFL reboot, but they at least had team names and logos and they put on a social media blitz. Heck, even after the merger with the other spring league, they were putting out 'sauce' on social media and that.

Like, a friend of mine is really hyped for the league, so we were trying to figure out what teams we'd cheer for (her team has no market either). Absolutely nothing to go on except those abominations of early team names, and it's either "where's one player you liked / recognized playing?", or in my case, "what team do you cheer for if Winnipeg doesn't have a team and Minneapolis does?". And even at that, I reserve the right to change my mind if the team name or logo is.. bad.

And yes, I'm gonna say it -- the inability to put money down on the games sucks. No sportsbook is carrying lines for them. Want me to get hyped about a league? Let me get a hundred down on my team to win the championship, let me bet against Toronto any time I feel petty, and let me have my anytime-goal props so I can follow and sweat a player throughout the game.

Or if you don't want to have direct gambling ties, at least do a free-to-play promotional pool, or prediction contest, or survivor pool, or SOMETHING.

ANY kind of meta-level engagement, you know?

no, the OP i responded to is regarding Toronto not being able to get consistent goalie. my response - for the most part , there's only a few goalies that provide consistently great to elite goaltending that you can rely upon each year and the teams that have them are not letting them go. there's teams that are successful w/o elite goalies, and some that aren't. it's the overall team that matters (duhh).

Samsonov was a top-10 GA vs xGA goalie last season for instance (great), but isn't this year (boo). Demko or Gibson (great) is this year - but wasn't last (boo). teams may have to take chances on lesser names or journeyman guys , or live with the inconsistencies b/c the consistently great guys like shesterkin, helle, or sorokin for instance are not getting moved.

there's teams that have elite goaltenders that win, & there's some that don't have elite goaltenders or more of the journey-man guys that win. there is no one set approach to build a team to win in the p̵l̵a̵y̵o̵f̵f̵s̵... sorry i mean regular season.

Hartman is such a f**king piece of shit. Youre going to stick a guy in the face because Kaprizov got cross checked and likely injured himself trying to embellish it like a bitch. Hartman could have taken Perfetti's freaking eye out or knocked a bunch of teeth out. And leave it to that f**king weasel to go after the smallest guy on the ice. I absolutely hate that piece of trash. I would pay to have Lowry or Dillon cave in his head.

I have watched the Dillon crosscheck about a dozen times and I have no idea what Wild fans are so pissed about. That same play happens probably a hundred times a game, including ON Dillon immediately afterwards.

I mean watch this video.

Dillon crosschecks him twice even before the reverse hit that he was supposedly avenging, then gets crosschecked himself, and then at the end of the play a Jet gets crosschecked behind the net!
