Who would want Johnny Hockey. Guy gets big money and just disappears.

True. These are usually the type of pickups for contenders that turn out to be difference making deals. He may not be very bought in for CBJ, not up to the task, etc. But that can change quickly on a winning team. That ain't gonna be us though haha

I'd like to plop you down in front of a few friends and have you deliver this wisdom to their face.
I'll sit down with as many of your recently single friends as you want me to

Perhaps laine ends up back in Winnipeg to refind his mojo. Huge retention needed but the peg may be the best place for him.
He is a cap killer at this stage. Columbus would have to eat salary or take a bad contract back.

Laines concussions and back issues seem to have badly and long term affected his play.

Yeah, and it was Wheeler, the toxic best friend who ruined your life and cost you something to get rid of .

Not that I think current Laine is a good fit on this meat and potatoed squad, but the last version of Laine and Buff we had on this roster would improve this team massively. A shame how things went.
As pissed as I was about the way Buff left, I miss him pretty much every game at some point.

Laine I don't miss at all. His first 2 seasons were magic but by the time he left I was rejoicing.

Did you forget Buff was a turnover machine and was average at best in defensive zone coverage? Thank god we put up points because he was a nightmare defensively a lot of nights. People forget that about him.

A tremendous source of entertainment however!

Buff was an elite player. Evey d-man has their defensive warts and he wasn't a top end defensive d-man but his D was more than adequate. And people talk about intangibles but Buff is one of the few players whose psychological impact cannot be denied. A monster of 6'5 270 lbs d-man who skates like the wind and plays 20 minutes every night capable of delivering a game changing hit at any moment... can't quantify that.

Bedard with a filthy snipe early in the game. Gauranteed that will fire McDavid up. No way he's going to allow the little spitf**k to show him up.
