So Leaf fans often talk about the unwarranted hate their team gets. I maintain a lot of it is from the main media that shoves the Leafs down our throats.

I just counted stories on the TSN NHL page:

49 Leaf stories

Winnipeg 2
Calgary 4
Edmonton 5
Vancouver 2
Ottawa 4
Montreal 3
You need to post this on one of the threads in the main board!

This is why they need another defenseman trophy. They need one for offense and one for all round best.

I'd argue there should be 3 tbh.

I've always been baffled as to why the best defenseman trophy would have nothing to do with defense

Idk about 3 but an award for the top scoring defenseman should be a no brainer.

I dont have an issue with the power rankings. Despite the injuries to their blueline the Leafs are v good. They beat the devils, penguins and wild this week. Their GA is terrific and Marner is on a roll. And it is a matter of time before Matthews breaks out.

The Jets just came off a 3 game stint where they blew multi goal leads late in the game (managed to win both in OT but still...) and got blown out by a division rival ( a team the leafs beat).

Yes and all 3 games the Leafs won were on the road AND all 3 games they had more PPs than the home team which is weird.
I did a quick check on the Wild games for the month of November. They played 12 games ... they lost the games where they had less PPs and won the games where they had more PPs. Only one game they won in OT where the other team had more penalties which was 2-1.
Special teams are a big factor in games or should I say refs calling penalties on one team is a big factor.

So Seattle playing in a weak division beating Ducks, Sharks, Kings jumps to #3 but the Jets played Seattle on B2B games and BEAT them are ranked at #10 ... okay that makes sense.

I saw Seattle surged but did not know they went to #3. I agree that is a bit silly.

That's the way many look at it - but I'd think the no brainer would be an award for the dman that plays the best D - or is that too obvious?

Bro did Maurice hurt you? Is become a bit of an obsession.

He's gone. As Elsa sings "let it goooooo"

🤣

Obvious counterpoint: people since April 28, 1996 told me to "let it go" re: my "obsession" that the NHL was returning to Winnipeg. 15 years of being told I was delusional until that magic day I had to leave the Forks party cause cell phone reception was horrible and I had about 25 people I needed to call. One was an old friend I hadn't talked to in five years who picked up the phone and literally greeted me with ".. I had a feeling this call was coming".

Second counterpoint: Spring '97, I'm working at Cash Casino in Calgary as a dealer, and in comes Theo Fleury, Sandy McCarthy and Hnat Dominachelli. They come to my table along with their massive entourage.

To this day, I'm not as upset with Theo requesting a dealer change with the expression "get this ugly prick out of here", as I am that he didn't tell his entourage to make room for their new rookie teammate, who wound up playing on his own with a couple regulars far from the scrum.

But for decades, again, I told anyone who would believe me that Theo Fleury was a piece of trash. They responded pretty much as you responded.

It wasn't even when he tried to assassinate that referee in the UK's EIHL with a slap-shot aimed right at his head, but it was when he finally finished snapping and got into politics, that at last, people finally realized

Right All These Years.jpg

... so I guess my point is, I don't see any harm in holding a grudge when you're right :)
