still chevy built himself a really good hand which was predicted to to win the stanley cup unlike vegas and what did chevy do with that hand???...let it fester instead of moving players that should have been moved for tangible assets.

He actually didn't sit on his hand in terms of personnel. He traded for players like Myers and Armia. Traded for big time deadline acquisitions in Stastny and Hayes to try to out the team over the top. He held ontoTrouba for as long as he could and then moved him. Given how Jacob performed for us those years at a dirt cheap cap hit it was the right move.

He traded Laine for a number 1C when it became apparent Laine didn't fit with the group and we needed a center to replace Little. Addressed that hole pretty quickly.

How much different does this thing look if his number 1 dmen doesn't up and quit with two years left on his deal or if Little doesn't suffer that freak career ending injury.

Not trying to fully excuse Chevy as he didn't pivot well enough on the d front after Buff but he definitely was dealt a pretty shitty hand in 2020 when the team was still capable of contending. He hasn't been able to get it back on track sense and hasnt been able to address the dcore prior to our forwards core thinning out which is why I'd like to see new management.

I wonder how our present situation could have been different had Stone wanted to come here.

One day, hopefully theres a kid in Winnipeg with the skill of a Mark Stone who is as much a fan of the team as someone like Jesse Pollock who will wants to come and bring a cup to the city.

Winnipeggers love to hate on their city but they are also a proud group of people in a way that is distinct in Canada - hopefully it rubs off onto one of these dozens and dozens of hockey players the province produces

sure, vegas was dealt a really good hand, but chevy built himself a real good hand.. heck of a hand, and what did chevy do, he stood pat...vegas didnt stand pat, look at all the changes vegas made thru there existence...chevy only made moves when he was forced to, and he is forced to make changes once again...unlike vegas, they made changes they felt that would make the club better than waiting for the players to make the changes....gotta give vegas credit , they didnt stand pat!
i know mccrimmon was still climbing the ranks during the 2.0 era GM recruitment process, but he has proven to be a smart GM. Yes Vegas has perks but KM has wheeled and dealed and used his personal knowledge (his lauded "eye for talent") to build a winner. Gotta hand it to him.

And overall, I like Chevy. One just wonders though if KM was our GM, how the Jets timeline would have been different.

LOL...once again trades that were initiated by the players on the team!! and no he didnt address that hole at center to replace little, did he??????? but he let it get to that shitty hand did he not????...basically you r saying chevy has a very poor grasp on the handle of the team and it s aspects to point where one can actually say he is negligent in his job!!??

He's definitely taken advantage to fullest extent possible. Definitely deserves a lot of credit for that.

I've always hated Las Vegas. It's a tasteless, guady monument to American consumerism and ignorance. It's a cultural wasteland where everything in an overpriced, tacky rip off of something better from a real place somewhere else.

The fact that NHL players would want to live in that classless, exhausting shithole makes me question their character tbh.

Not even sure what your arguing here. Do you think most teams trade core players if there aren't issues? Teams hord talent and usually only deal them when forced to. Tampa hasn't yet dealt a core player despite extreme cap pressures for instance. How many teams have had their franchise dmen walk out in camp? How did Colorado look this year with a potential career ending injury to respected and very important vet? They got bounced round 1 and have cap and depth issues going forward.

Yeah Chevy hasn't managed the team that great the last couple of seasons but was pretty on point prior to that.

True but Vegas can make moves that the Jets can't. Stone snubbed the Jets for Vegas, Pietrangelo is a key piece on their blue line, Eichel I'm sure had sway over where he ended up.

I don't want to say it's impossible for Winnipeg to do it, they showed they could in 2018, but I'd caution against trying to emulate markets that have different circumstances than Winnipeg does.
Wpg can also make moves the Vegas can too

What precludes them in finding potential breakout guys or throwaways like Stephenson, Karlsson, Marchessault, Smith etc? Even FLA with Carter V, Forsling, Montour etc.

Wpg barely makes player trades in the off-season and miss me with the NTC bc all those players had none. They can't get by on just draft - and-develop bc frankly it's not a distinct competitive advantage for them.

lol...why did the dman walk out in camp?????.....there obvious issues in the room for a while and nothing was done and this past TDL chevy stated he has the players to win, well he may believe in the players but it is obvious the players dont believe him anymore.

and yeah he was on point before the issues cropped up and since it has been put upon the players to force the necessary change to improve the team...

pretty sure buff had an issue with how his ankle injury was dealt with.. if it was just an issue with the locker room then he would have came back and played the following season with another team but he hasn't played since...

Yup, the team offered to trade him twice that year and he just wanted to hang them up.

Stunning analysis by Kelly

Loved the makeup of our team. We were 4 lines and 6 D.

Have other gm's caught on to this??
Seattle and Vegas should be a lesson on the importance of depth. Anybody could have gone down on Vegas and it wouldn't have crippled them. Multiple players went down on Seattle and it didn't cripple them.

They both do have strong depth.

Vegas does have star power though. But in 17-18 they were similar to Seattle.

NSH in 16-17 too.

basically KM has done a better job of managing vegas than chevy has done with the jets the last 4 or 5 years despite vegas being "gifted" all that star talent tho not being able to win the cup the past 5 years...the jets were there for a season and looking promising and then the wheels fell off and chevy wasnt able to or didnt care to grasp the reality of the issues regarding the team and deal with them accordingly. So a team being gifted star talent is not an excuse for the jets to hide behind for not being a competitive team since they have proved otherwise is possible with proper management....but since then have the jets been managed properly or has a blind eye been turned to issues that have been evident with the team a number of times
