DAL has finally given up the division lead they’ve held all year, with the Avs looking primed to jump them as well. Our first rounder could be 21-22 as long as DAL doesn’t make the conf finals.
I would have dropkicked CD if he traded that first.

So what matchups are we looking for? Piles vs Boston? Pitt vs Carolina?
Pretty much since the kittens or cats or whatever may good enough on d and goaltending (bob has his ups and downs for sure).

Boston will make mince meat of either team.

Carolina would get more of a push from NYI than they would from Pittsburgh.

I hate the Islanders more than anyone however Sorokin is the one player who could make Boston sweat. They're going to wreck either Bobvrosky or Jarry.

If the Islanders can somehow get Barzal back (I honestly don't know his status) it could make it a long series.

The long game is how to go about it this year.

If the Rangers can take care of business with the Devils/Carolina in whichever order, you'd want them to meet an exhausted Boston or Tampa. It's very similar to 2007 when the regular season juggernaut Buffalo was softened up by the Islanders and then Rangers and by the time they made it to Ottawa, had nothing left in the tank.

They won't unless they decide to (and get away with) cheap shotting their way through the series.

They're the 2nd worst offensive team currently in playoff position and they're going to face a team that has the best defense in the league. Even with Barzal, they're going to struggle to score against that team (or any team really.)

I can easily see Boston having their issues scoring in the playoffs, but the Isles are way worse at it than they are. They won't run into issues until the round after.

I’m so distracted with how bad the Ducks defense is, I had no idea it was Blais who scored before.

Blais might be one of those guys who is really comfortable for one team and nowhere else. There's not enough sample size of him anywhere else other than STL and NY. He might do what Vesey did and continue to accept short term deals after next year.

Remember how good Sean Hill was for Carolina and pretty bad everywhere else (and yes I'm not taking into account him getting busted for PEDs much later)? Mikael Rendberg was money with the Legion of Doom as the complimentary guy and had nowhere near the success anywhere else. Etc.

Sorokin could single handedly keep the games close and frustrate Boston. Neither Bobvrosky or Jarry could do anything close. They're going to win the first round, it's a matter of starting to wear them out.

Even 1-2 games going to OT or multiple OTs for Boston would be beneficial for anyone coming out of the Metro Division.

Famous quote from Nash and I may be off a little..

“If you want to skill it up, be prepared to get punched in the face”
Unfortunately, there is still this type of mentality in hockey. "You better not show too much skill, or we'll beat you up!". This is caveman/stone age/neanderthal thinking. No wonder the NHL never gets anywhere; the analysis it gets is from old fossils who should've been take off the air years ago. They can't get out of their own way, are their own worst enemy and they're too stupid to realize it.

Tyson Nash was a goon, so what else would you expect. Too many commentators are former goons or goalies. They hate offence; they hate offensive skill being displayed. We need more former skill players as analysts.

mapped out the wild card races
sorted by Points% but always liked the 'Games Behind" ranking
as better showing the challenge facing the chasing teams
(wasn't ambitious enough to figure out sterngth of remaining schedule...)

I dont know... Boston has been strong all season, I am just not blown away.

I would not be surprised if they get knocked out

IDK watching them today and they have really nothing to play for and it could be 5-1 or 6-1 right now in Carolina.
They are up 3-1 right now late in the second.
