I'm still angry to this day about this pick.
Why? You know what player type they could have used above all others vs Tampa? Lias Anderssons type.

Didnt work out. Most guys that first round didn't. Martin Necas who was the hindsight pick was a f***ing donut in the playoffs. Suzuki was busy leading MTL to the first overall pick.

Happens.

even can't miss superstud Cody Glass is hanging on to an NHL job by a thread. Still, Lias was a bad pick right away, unlike the Glass, Mittels, Vilardi, etc who were at least exciting prospects at one point lol
Vilardi had a broken back and couldn't skate even before that.

Mittles was always a soft fraud.

They went for surefire NHLer instead of lotto box of shit attributes everyone else had and he busted anyway. So has almost everyone else after pick 5. There's like 5 1st rounders on waivers the first year they were eligible.

Gotta let the anger for 2017 go.

they went for the low upside , high floor player who actually had a low floor and no upside. Horrible drafting.

Never forgive, never forget.

I'm still angry to this day about this pick.

From all reports, NYR (and most teams) knew there was a giant cliff after #5. They tried over and over to trade higher. Almost traded for VAN's sport, but once they knew that the Rangers would take Elias with that spot, they decided not to let NYR move up.

Rangers just then had to pick over the scraps ay #7, and took what they thought was a low ceiling, but row risk pick. The next 4 players taken after him are busts, too. Only 5 of the first 18 players picked that year are legit talented players.

I wish someone somewhere could find or saved the clip of gordie Clark describing lias Andersson’s traverse city debut LOL. He knew how bad he screwed up the second he saw him just like many of us did.

Had no business coming near an nhl game that kid

A lot of us hated the Andersson pick as soon as it happened. It seems like an "oh shit our guy just went off the board" pick by the Rangers.

at least Chytil worked out and he never complained publicly and willing to work from the minors. He came here and worked on his English and worked in the AHL. Why couldn’t Lundkvist and Andersson do that. They most likely had a spoiled upbringing. if they weren’t then they have serious maturity issues. Imagine if Andersson had Chytil’s good attitude. A bad attitude won’t get you anywhere in life. What a spoiled brat Andersson was.
